Cooking is a fun way to pass some time, learn some new skills and you
also have the added bonus of being able to eat what you have made
(or share it with others at home, if you are feeling generous!).
1. Wash your hands for 20 seconds in warm water making
sure you use soap
2. Make sure you have a grown up to help you if you need
it, especially when using the oven and sharp knives
3. Check that you have all the ingredients you need for
what you have decided to bake or cook
4. Get organised and get all equipment out before you start: an
apron is also a good idea!
5. Follow recipes carefully, taking care you weigh out ingredients
correctly—get a grown up to help you if you need it
6. Start with a simple recipe if you are new to cooking
7. Clean up as you go
8 . Take a deep breath and get stuck in!
9. Don’t leave all the clearing up to the grown
ups
10. Share what you have made with others!
