COMPLAINT

I) At all times pertinent hereto, Wayne Cooke has resided in Branford, Connecticut and

through his participation in local politics and his attendance at various televised public

meetings, Mr. Cooke has become a public figure in the Town of Branford.

2) On July 21, 2010, Anthony DaRos in a public meeting of the Branford Board of

Selectmen, accused Mr. Cooke of attempting to bribe Mr. DaRos in an incident that

DaRos claimed had occurred in 2006.

3) The accusation by DaRos was false and malicious and constitutes slander per se.

4) DaRos made this false statement in public at a board of selectmen meeting which not

only was attended by members of the general public who heard Mr. DaRos's

<) accusation, but also was broadcast by public television to the Branford community.

5) As a result of this defamation, Cooke has been damaged.
