"Driving to the Vet" Conducir al veterinario

Jake, a dog, is sick and needs to go to the veterinarian (vet). One person holds him, while the other drives the car. Jake, un perro, está enfermo y necesita ir al veterinario. Una persona lo tiene mientras la otra maneja el carro.

1.- A: So when did Jake start throwing up? ¿Entonces cuando empezó a vomitar Jake?

2.- B: He's been throwing up every day this week. Poor thing. Ha estado vomitando cada día esta semana. Pobrecito.

3.- A: At first, I just thought he ate some bad food, but if he's been throwing up every day, he's probably sick.

Al principio, solo pensé que comió una comida mala, pero si ha estado vomitando cada día, probablemente esté enfermo.

4.- B: Yeah, I think he might have worms. Sí, pienso que es posible que tenga lombrices.

5.- A: Hopefully not.

Ojala que no.

6.- B: Well, he needs to get his shots anyway. Pues, necesita tener sus inyecciones de todos modos.

7.- A: Do you have insurance? ¿Tienes seguro?

8.- B: No, it's not worth it. I only come to the vet like twice a year. No, no vale la pena. Solo vengo al veterinario como dos veces al año.

9.- A: Ah, ok. So which street do I turn on? Ah, ok. ¿Entonces en cuál calle giro?

10.- B: 5th. Thanks for driving, by the way. I have to hold Jake whenever he's in the car, or else he'll get scared. 5ª. Gracias por manejar, por cierto. Tengo que sostener a Jake cuando está en el carro, de otro modo tendría miedo.

11.- A: No problem.

No hay problema.

"Work, Hours, and Vacations"

TRABAJO, HORAS Y VACACIONES

Two co-workers chat at work.

Dos trabajadores platican en trabajo.

A:What time do you get off?

¿A qué hora te vas?

B: 8:30 I think. You?

A las 8:30, creo. ¿Y tú?

 

A: I'm not sure yet. I might try to stay late. Jessica wants to leave early, so I might

stay for her. I'm trying to get more hours this week cause I'll be out of town next

week.

Todavía no estoy seguro. Quizás trate de quedarme hasta tarde. Jessica quiere irse

temprano, así que tal vez me quede por ella. Estoy tratando de tener más horas

esta semana porque voy a estar fuera de la ciudad la semana que viene.

 

B: Well you can take my shift tomorrow if you want it. So, where are you going?

Pues puedes tomar mi turno mañana si lo quieres. Entonces, ¿a dónde vas?

 

A: I'm going up to Colorado. I'll get to go skiing and see the mountains. It's

supposed to be really pretty there.

Voy para Colorado. Voy a poder ir a esquiar y ver las montañas. Se supone que va a

estar muy bonito allí.

 

B: Yeah I've heard it is. But why are you going on vacation? I thought you were

almost broke.

Sí oí que lo es. ¿Pero por qué vas de vacaciones? Pensé que estabas casi quebrada.

 

A: Well I kind of am. But I'm going with my family, so my parents are paying for it.

Pues estoy un poco (quebrada). Pero voy con mi familia, entonces mis padres lo

pagarán.

 

B: Ah, so that's why you're going.

Ah, entonces por eso vas.

 

A: Yeah. We better get back to work. See you in a bit.

Si. Deberíamos regresar a trabajar. Te veo en un rato.
