Environmentally Friendly and Cost-Effective

The Shuttle™ is bringing ultra low temperature storage to places never before imagined. Places conventional compressor freezers cannot go or won’t work. Because it does not use dry ice or LN2, there is no need for replenishment, ever. It does not generate potentially hazardous CO2 vapors and you do not need a HAZMAT certification to transport.

The Shuttle™ uses something different, better, and smarter: free-piston Stirling engine technology. Power consumption at its most efficient temperature of -86°C is less than 150 watts, the same as operating a conventional light bulb.

Easy-to-use Touchpad Controls

The intergrated, weather resisitant controller, offers positive tactile feedback. The press and hold On/Off button secures the power mode and protects the setpoint. Transition from AC to DC power is as easy as changing the mobile utility power cord, included.

SU105U Compact -86˚C Ultra Low Storage Benchtop, Undercounter, Stackable ULT Freezer

For higher volume applications in the laboratory, the Model SU105U is easily configured to adapt to an existing research setup, providing an efficient and cost effective solution for ultra low storage.

Environmentally Friendly and Cost-Effective

In the lab, the SU105U combines the performance of a unique free-piston Stirling engine with an efficient, thin-wall, non-CFC urethane foam and vacuum insulated cabinet. This permits high-performance ultra low storage capacity that operates on standard 115 V, or 60Hz AC at a fraction of the operating cost of conventional cascade refrigeration systems.

It uses something different, better, and smarter: free-piston Stirling engine technology. Power consumption at its most efficient temperature of -86°C is 150 watts, the same as operating a conventional light bulb.

Flexible Configuration

The Shuttle and SU105U easily integrates into any existing laboratory, offering a variety of configurations to meet any ultra low storage need. The SU105U has a 3.7 cu.ft. (105 liter) capacity and is designed for bench top, under counter, or stacked configurations.

Unlike cascade freezers the SU105U can operate over a full range from -86˚C to -20˚C, for even more storage options.

If less storage space is required, the companion Shuttle™ serves as a 0.9 cu.ft. (25 liter) bench top freezer that is portable and can run on 115V, 220V AC, 50/60Hz, and 12V DC.

The SU105U footprint is just 5.25 sq.ft. with 3.7 cu.ft (105 liters) of storage as a single or 7.4 cu. Ft. (210 liters) of storage in a stacked configuration.

Humm™ Free-Piston Stirling Engine

The Stirling Shuttle™ and SU105U operate without noisy compressors or costly cascade refrigeration systems previously associated with ultra low temperature storage.

Stirling ultra low temperature freezers combine the Humm™ free-piston Stirling engine technology widely used in aerospace, energy and military applications for cooling and power generation with a thermosiphon that contains no moving parts.

Thermosiphon Energy Transfer

The thermosiphon is completely sealed and embedded within a composite non-CFC urethane foam and vacuum-insulated panel cabinet wall. All cooling is accomplished by a simple condensing and evaporation process dependent on the thermodynamic properties of the cooling medium which changes phase from liquid to a gas and back again.

Humm™ technology is not refrigerant specific. It can use any of a variety of off-the-shelf cooling fluids such as DuPont™ SUVA®95, hydrocarbons such as ethane (widely used in Europe) or other refrigerants commonly used in global markets for household refrigerators and consumer goods.

There is no on/off cycling. Component wear and energy spikes common to start/stop cycling are virtually eliminated. This creates and maintains a steady-state temperature at the desired set point without a saw tooth curve common to conventional refrigeration systems.

The low-voltage linear driver generates minimal heat, keeping discharge temperature to the room very low with minimal impact to the facility HVAC system or car air conditioner.

The Humm™ free-piston Stirling engine contains two moving parts that float on helium gas bearings to eliminate contact wear. Freezing is performed by continuous evaporation and condensing of the cooling medium permanently sealed within the thermosiphon.
