Rice pudding, semolina- and pudding desserts, and yogurt from sheep‘s milk produced by the French dairy Le Petit Basque have recently been made available on the market in multi-packs. The company is pleased to now be operating in an even more environmentally friendly manner with its new packaging, ”We reduce waste, thus saving 35% in packaging material.“ At the point of sale, too, multi-packs demonstrate their strengths, where the most decisive issue is their decoration technology – OPS sleeving. OPS stands for ”oriented polystyrene“. The sleeves are oriented so that the central product message is ideally displayed on the shelves. Greiner Packaging International is currently the only company offering this innovative technology for multi-packs.

For the packaging of Greek yogurt, the Lactalis Group relies on Greiner Packaging International. For the Bosnian and Croatian markets, the yogurt product is distributed in printed 150-gram cups. In France, other dimensions are preferred, and Lactalis fills ”Yaourt à la Grecque“ in 500-gram pots. Although the pack dimensions are different, there is one element that consumers have in common in all three countries: a craving for this dessert‘s typically creamy-Mediterranean taste. When combined with honey and nuts, this yogurt product turns into a typically Greek delicacy.

Originally, LID stood for ”Spoon-In-Lid.“ Now, for Greiner Packaging International, LID means much more.Spooning in ice cream with pleasure; stirring cereals or sweets into yogurt. If you think that for doing so you would need all sorts of silverware, then you’d be wrong. Proper packaging does it right – it contains a spoon, fork and/or knife. LID packaging is versatile and offers a wide array of benefits. It provides for hygienic and secure reclosure, with folding utensils that cannot be refolded after use. Both products are packed by Greiner Packaging International, and each product and their unique packaging solutions excel with distinguished convenience features. And now, both packs have received awards.
Oat So Simple: fast & simpleBreakfast ready in two minutes! The U.S. food producer, Quaker Oats, delivers on this promise with ”Oat So Simple.“ To prepare this oats breakfast, 170ml of hot water is poured into a K3® cup containing the cereal and low-fat
milk powder. The exact filling volume is clearly marked on the inside of the cardboard sleeve. After filling and 15 seconds of stirring, the cup is covered for one minute with a clip-on lid. Then, ”Oat So Simple“ is stirred once again and is ready to be enjoyed, even on the go. Maximum demand orientationOriginally, ”Oat So Simple“ was exclusively available in large boxes and bags. The K3® pack manufactured by Greiner Packaging International is the first single-portion-sized packaging for the product. It perfectly matches consumer demand, and since its introduction it
has been setting new standards in the ”breakfast-on-the-go“ market segment in terms of sales figures as well as convenience. The Danish fruit producer and processor, Danfrugt Skælskør A/S, provides consumers with easy access to their daily intake of vitamins, with bite-sized fruit pieces filled in transparent cups manufactured by Greiner Packaging International. For decoration, the cups use IML; it is closed with a lid that incorporates a draining function. The packaging received the HUNGAROPACK Hungarian Packaging Competition Award 2012. This year, it has been honored with the ”WorldStar Winner“ designation as well.

Innovation Day to be continuedThe premiere of the latest packaging branch meeting was a total success, and this year’s planning procedure has already commenced.
With Innovation Day, Greiner Packaging International has created a particular new highlight in the packaging branch. The organizer of the event, Robert Obermayr, K1/K2 Product Group Director and Innovation Manager, declared, ”Innovation Day deals with communication, information, and networking. We have made it our goal to establish this event as an engaging, regularly occurring inter-branch meeting. With the premiere, the first step got off to a good start – now, we are working on the consistent continuation of the event concept.“ The date has already been determined, and those who are interested should mark the 21st of November, 2013, in their appointment books.
Kicking off with “Design in Packaging“ The premiere Innovation Day was dedicated to the topic ”Design in Packaging“. Eighty participants from all sectors of the packaging branch responded to our invitation. The floor was handed over for seven speeches on interesting insights regarding the current topics in the sectors: Martin A. Schoiswohl (Kommhaus), Volker Limmer
(Constantia Flexibles), Michael G. Thiessenhusen (Clariant), Alexander Komenda (Kunststoff Cluster), Andreas Fill (Fill GmbH), Stefan Ebli (Greiner Packaging International) and Matthias Giebel (Berndt & Partner).

Customers benefit from the cooperation between Greiner Packaging International and Bark Innovations when using our unique liquid dosing bottles. The standard dosing system offered by Bark Innovations is integrated into the bottle, therefore it is not restricted to a defined bottle shape. At present, it can be used for volumes holding 250, 500 and 1000ml. Greiner Packaging International produces the bottles according to the customer‘s specifications, and there is a great amount of creative leeway with regards to the use of color, shape and design.
Convincing handling benefitsDosing instructions such as ”Align botte properly“ or ”Squeeze reservoir“ are now a thing of the past. The Bark dosing system also works in the pack‘s inclined positions – without squeezing it. Yet, if it is squeezed, this will not affect the portioned amount of liquid. This innovative dosing solution works
with precision, and overdosing is simply not possible. Upon request, the packs can also be equipped with childproof closure systems.
Kavodrink bottles integrate a cool look with easy handling and high functionality. Greiner Packaging International manufactures three volumes holding 500, 750 and 1000ml. The bottles are an ideal choice for sports activities, and this particular application took center stage at a presentation during the Kajak Slalom World Cup 2012 in Pau: Kavodrinks were manufactured with the event logo especially for the race.

Makita Group
In 1915, Makita was founded in Japan by Mosaburo Makita. The Makita Group took over the German power tool manufacturer, Dolmar, in 1991. The company group’s Research & Development sector maintains a consistent focus on applications, which are the basis for the regular market launch of innovative, high-performance Dolmar and Makita branded products.
While other cutting tools bite on granite, the angle grinders of Makita-Dolmar employ their strengths to the fullest. Technically speaking, these machines are a variant of the chainsaw. The motor drives a cutting disk instead of a guide bar. Angle grinders are used to cut rigid materials, such as stone or concrete in road and railway construction or emergency rescues, among others. To capture the dust generated during cutting, water is applied. The device required for this process is known as a water set.
Comprehensive project with unique challengesFor the Makita Group, Greiner Assistec was their preferred choice for the complex production of the water sets. The sets are identical in construction and are used for both Makita and Dolmar angle grinders. Franz Dilly, Head of Division Greiner Assistec, said, ”During the development of the water sets, we thoroughly supported Makita-Dolmar – from concept to serial production. In doing so, we had to overcome
some unique challenges.“ One of them was exacting the inner geometry of the plastic parts, which was achieved using GIT (Gas Injection Technology). Another challenge was considering thermal pressure; and this was resolved by crosslinking. Greiner Assistec demonstrated abilities during the project such as its manufacturing of injection-molded parts, assembly, and the running of the final functional tests, including testing for watertightness.
