Contributor Web Client Installation Follow these steps if encountering installation issues

Steps to Install or Reinstall Cognos EP Contributor Web Client -- Using MSI Files

(One time set-up for each computer)

Step 1: Check IE11 Compatibility View Settings to be sure “msu.edu” is included.

Step 2: Check IE11 Trusted Sites to be sure “https://*.msu.edu” is included.

Step 3: Uninstall the Contributor Web Client within the Control Panel through Programs and Features, select

“Uninstall or change a program”. Select and Uninstall IBM Cognos Client Framework. Some users

will have IBM Cognos Contributor Client, which also needs to uninstall.

Note: If these are not present on your machine, skip to step 5.

Step 4: After removing IBM Cognos Client Framework, restart your computer.

Step 5: Download this CognosRCP.msi file. Choose Save File, then select Run to download the file. Wait for

process to complete. Close the View Downloads screen.

Step 6: Download this contributor.msi file. Choose Save File, then select Run to download the file. Wait for

process to complete. Close the View Downloads screen.

Step 7: Enter URL for the Cognos EP site: https://ep.ebsp.msu.edu/cognos/ or log in through the EBS portal (ebs.msu.edu) and click on the “Planning and Budgets” tile.

Step 8: Login using your MSU NetID and Password.

Step 9: Select a Cognos EP application (suggest the following): Public Folders > Cognos Planning > Applications > - MSU > MSU Installation Test.

Note: Your listing of applications could be different than the screen print below.

Step 10: Select 10000000-MAU within the “You may view:” section of the screen (right side of screen).

Step 11: Wait for the following screen to appear, which is initiating the application.

Step 12: Cognos EP application is opened for entering data.

Step 13: Cognos EP application can be closed as installation was successful. Select File and Close.

You have successfully completed the Cognos EP Contributor Web Client installation!

If the installation was not successful, then do Step 14, InPrivate Browsing. Some users have

needed to reboot their computers before successfully installing the web client.

Step 14: Open a special session called an InPrivate Browsing session. Click on Tools from left side of screen

and select InPrivate Browsing.

-OR- Select Tools ( ) from right side of screen and click on Safety than InPrivate Browing.

The top-left corner of the resulting window will look like the screen-shot below. Now log into the Cognos EP

(Planning) environment as usual. Starting an InPrivate Browsing session is not something that you need to every

time you login as it will only need to be used one-time.

- Enter the URL for the Cognos EP site: https://ep.ebsp.msu.edu/cognos/ or log in through the EBS website (https://ebs.msu.edu) and click on the “Planning and Budgets” tab, then the “Planning and Budgets System” link.

- Login using MSU Net ID and Password.

- Path to Cognos EP Folder: Public Folders > Cognos Planning > Applications > - MSU

You can now log into Internet Explorer as usual.
