The concept of modernism would be a central

theme in these efforts. Gaining popularity after

the Second World War, architectural modern-

ism was adopted by many influential architects

and architectural educators, and continues as

a dominant architectural style for institution-

al and corporate buildings into the 21st centu-

ry. Modernism eventually generated reactions,

most notably Postmodernism which sought

to preserve pre-modern elements, while Ne-

omodernism emerged as a reaction to Post-

modernism. odern architecture developed, in

their opinion, as a result of social and political

revolutions.[2] Others see Modern architecture

as primarily driven by technological and engi-

neering developments. Still other historians re-

gard Modernism as a matter of taste, a reaction

against eclecticism and the lavish stylistic ex-

cesses of Victorian and Edwardian architecture.

Expressionism was an architectural movement that developed in Northern Europe during the first decades of the 20th century in parallel with the expressionist visual and performing arts. Making notable use of sculptural forms and the novel use of concrete as artistic elements, examples include Rudolf Steiner’s Second Goetheanum, built from

1926 near Basel, Switzerland and the Einstein-turm in Potsdam, Germany. The style was

characterised by an early-modernist adop-tion of novel materials, formal innovation,

and very unusual massing, sometimes inspired by natural biomorphic forms, sometimes by the new technical possi-

bilities offered by the mass produc-tion of brick, steel and especially

glass. Many expressionist ar-chitects fought in World War I

and their experiences, com-bined with the political tur-moil and social upheaval that followed the German Revolution of 1919, result-

ed in a utopian outlook and a romantic socialist agenda.

The global warming and the many conflicts between various nations are just two out of the aggregate producing disasters in the present time. The use of modern architecture can ap-pear valuable in the decreasing of the terrific consequences of a certain disaster. Modern-day architectures, every day are trying to come out with suitable solutions that will be sufficient and eco-friendly to the environment. In other terms, those sufficient buildings are known as green construction and sustainable buildings. Green architecture seems vital for the environmental sustainability. Modern architecture is prom-ising for setting out a better world for living.

Regarding the problem of overpopulation on Earth, modern architecture can appear as rescue into the attempt for example to make Mars com-patible for life. That involves whole process of ter-raforming Mars. By terra-forming, scientists and architects can achieve to turn the Red Planet into green one. It can take about hundreds of years, but it is all question of how much will be invested.
