When Iwrote my last letter a bullet came through ourhouse and the other day while I was resting abomb burst through the roof just over myhead . It did not explode or I probably wouldnot he here to finish the letter . In a littlewhile another shell went through my officeand out the kitchen wall . The rest of the timewe lived in the basement with dirt banked uparound two sides and so escaped being struck .
