Contents Page: The Beginning

I began my contents page in Photoshop with my background layer. I kept the background white and added a rectangular marquee tool and filled it red. I did the same to make the yellow box, I then added the effects of drop shadow, inner shadow, and stroke which then filled red.

I then added the ‘Y’ from dafpnt.com using a print screen, and moving it into paint I filled the ‘Y’ in black to contrast from the yellow ‘Y’ on the front cover. I then copied the image and paste it into Photoshop, cropped the image to size and placed it in the red box.

Next Step

I took the images from my original images I used effects of drop shadow, Inner shadow, Bevel and Emboss and the stroke tool to make the images stand out from the background which I filled black.

I did the same for the yellow text box with the stroke again to make the box stand out from the background image, I kept this of black colour to keep in with the other images on the contents page. Finally I added the text using a few effects to make the text stand out, Drop shadow, Over glow and a colour overlay of red.

Final Design

I finally added the ‘c’ from Dafont.com using the effects of the stroke tool I coloured the outside of the ‘c’ yellow and filled the ‘c’ red in the paint programme.

The red text box was made from the rectangular marquee tool and filled it red in colour to continue the red and yellow theme of the magazine. Finally I added text from Photoshop in white in comparison to the background.

I added the ‘web address to fill the spare gap I had and to give the product a realist look. I did the same for the ‘city college’ logo’ and again used the stroke tool to make the image come from the page.

Final Analysis

I designed my contents page twice. When I decided I wasn’t happy with my initial design I decided to start again using several text boxes to separate the different subjects, which broke up the images nicely adding a more professional look to the contents page compared to the previous page.
