TIGI EDUCATION OVERVIEW“Education is at the heart of TIGI, central to everything we do. Our long-standing philosophy is to share knowledge to inspire and motivate other hairdressers. Since the beginning of my career, I have believed that education allows me to progress while also inspiring and motivating other hairdressers.” Anthony Mascolo

TIGI’s ground-breaking education encompasses courses in our academies, intimate in-salon training, regional events and seminars and global shows. All courses are carefully created to suit professional hairdressers at every level providing continually updated and refreshed content. Courses aim to support the individual hairdresser and the salon, leading to enhanced skills, a tighter, more motivated team, stronger customer service, retail expertise, and team and customer loyalty. Ultimately, it’s about helping build successful, progressive businesses.

Today, everyone wants to have access to education anywhere and at any time. To accommodate this thirst for knowledge, TIGI launched the 24/7 app, giving hairdressers access to new techniques, product knowledge, colour formulas, mood boards and the facility to create and save information. Further education is also available online at tigiprofessional.com, giving access and inspiration whenever you want it.

TIGI ACADEMIES

Anthony Mascolo opened the TIGI European Academy in London in 2006. Since then TIGI Academies have opened in New York, Milan, Dublin and Taipei, and a TIGI Learning Lab in Dallas, all supported by global regional education.

LONDONThe TIGI European Academy in London is a natural space for learning, sharing ideas, mentoring and delivering the core disciplines of hairdressing. From cutting and colouring to styling and session work, the European Academy covers courses to inspire hairdressers at all levels. Located in South London, close to Bed Head Studios, the TIGI European Academy London is led by the TIGI International Creative Team, working closely with Anthony Mascolo.

NEW YORKThe TIGI New York Academy is located in Manhattan’s SoHo, in the heart of one of New York’s coolest neighbourhoods; the perfect fashion-focused backdrop for creativity. The great space lends itself to artistic expression with exposed brick walls and fl oor-to-ceiling windows. The New York team is headed by Thomas Osborn, VP of Education and Creative Director of TIGI Americas, who collaborates with Anthony Mascolo on US and Global hair shows, TIGI collection shoots, and also heads the US Session Team at New York Fashion Week.

MILANOpened in 2014, the TIGI Academy, Milan is located in the heart of Milan’s fashion district, an area where designers and photographers have their studios. The Milan Academy quickly gained popularity with hairdressers across Italy. The Italian team continually works in liaison with the European Academy team in London and members are backstage at Milan Fashion Week.

TAIPEIThe TIGI Academy Taipei is TIGI’s education centre in Asia. The TIGI team in Taiwan is led by Ralf Boss, who works closely with the TIGI International Creative Team to deliver the latest education programmes. Members of the TIGI International Creative Team visit Taiwan each year to share new concepts and ideas and deliver specialist courses.

DUBLINTIGI Academy Ireland opened in Dublin in April 2016, off ering TIGI hairdressers the opportunity to attend a variety of education programmes. With an inspiring outdoor art-space, the Academy is the perfect location to hold creative events, merging hair with fashion, endorsing and promoting local talent.

The TIGI Collective was created to extend the work and reach of the TIGI Education team, delivering world-class education to salons. Through extensive and ongoing training, TIGI Collective members become part of an elite team working across the globe.

TIGI INSPIRATIONAL YOUTHCreated by Anthony Mascolo in 2004 to identify and nurture future talent, TIGI Inspirational Youth is one of the most respected and successful global youth-training programmes in hairdressing. Guided by the TIGI International Creative Team, the programme comprises an intensive “bootcamp” which covers a broad aspect of creative instruction. This includes classic and advanced cutting, colouring and styling, session styling, presentation skills, photographic techniques and working to camera.

Often described as a ‘life changing’ experience by team members, TIGI Inspirational Youth takes education to a new level, delivering the next generation of hairdressing stars.

Now in its fi fteenth year, the programme has inspired many former team members to high levels of success in their own right.

TIGI SESSION TEAMWorking behind the scenes at global fashion weeks, the TIGI Session Team are a strong group of hairdressers that have been individually selected and trained by the TIGI International Creative Team. Now in its seventh year, this successful training programme gives team members the opportunity to widen their creative skills beyond the salon.

TIGI Session Team members are chosen for their classic dressing skills, their ability to work under pressure and as a team. “For me it’s vital each team member has good classic dressing skills and a strong team ethic,” says Maria Kovacs, TIGI European Session Director. “It’s all about getting the job done calmly, creatively and quickly. There’s always tension backstage. We have to ensure we all work totally professionally.”
