ADVISORSPOTLIGHT
Q: Location
A: Northern Virginia
Q: One word that describes how you work
A: Thoughtfully
Q: Why did you decide to join the RIA industry?
A: My first job out of school was with a major wire house. It didn’t take long to witness the ethical
differences between wire houses and RIAs. And for me, being with a singly registered fee-only RIA
was the only way to go.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with your clients?
A: Listening and learning about their unique experiences and needs. We have a fascinating mix of
clients with complex wealth management issues where we can add significant value; there’s never
a dull moment.
Ryon Beyer
Q: Current position & company
A: Co-Founder & COO of Hemington Wealth Management

Q: What is your favorite app?
A: Of course it’s Orion Connect...., but otherwise I enjoy the reading Wall Street Journal on my phone
every night to unwind.
Q: What do you do to unwind when not working (in other words, what are some of your hobbies)?
A: Cooking and gardening. If I had to switch careers I would love to go to cooking school in Lyon and
open a single table restaurant.
Q: What is your favorite type of music?
A: Anything but Top 40.
Q: Tell us about some of your favorite books, or what you are currently reading?
A: Of My favorite books of all time are; “Atlas Shrugged”, “The Stranger”, “The Sun Also Rises”, and “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” - I can’t wait to read this last one to my son. I’m currently reading, “The White Man’s Burden”.
Q: What is one thing you can’t do without at work?
A: Great team members.
Q: What are the top three essential tools in your workspace?
A: Effective communication, a clear vision & roadmap, and a dedicated and engaged team.
Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
A: I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors and colleagues whose advice I still seek. But if there’s one
prevailing piece of advice it would be to, in all aspects of your life, surround yourself with intelligent
and interesting people. As this relates to work, never be afraid to hire people who are more talented
than you are, properly incent them, and get out of their way.
Q: Where do you see this industry going in the next five years?
A: Smaller firms that complete on price and focus on investment management only will face steep
competition. The firms that offer true wealth management and swim upstream will continue to thrive
and remain profitable.
