Constantly striving to grow and remain relevant in our ever-changing industry, The Plumb Club recently embarked on a strategic planning journey. This sparked the launch of a new website, logo and the tagline: Educate. Innovate. Connect. which paved the way for a roster of year-round activities and programs. One of these programs was a research study, prompted by feedback from jewelry retailers, regarding the lack of consumer market information.

We identified design directions, decoded emerging styles in the market, best selling silhouettes, colors and materials through research, data collection and data analysis. We also identified consumer insights based on consumption, emotional attitudes and aesthetic codes.

Based on the TPC Report, quantitative research was developed for The Plumb Club using a Qualtrics online platform, surveying over 1000 carefully screened respondents. The objective was to identify and validate an iconic motif that resonates with target consumers as a relevant expression of their emotions and state of being in today’s multifaceted world.

Analyzing the data gathered from the survey, it is clear that symbols and images have become a universal language for sharing our emotions on a local and global level. The Polar Star, The Sun and celestial bodies in general emerged as icons that resonate most with guidance, positivity and spirituality and the emotional values associated with them. Based on these insights and the research conducted, a design brief was developed for Plumb Club members to help create impactful and relevant products and collections that capture these values and emotions.
