The coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is influencing public and private life all over the world. Beside the safety and care for family and friends, the well-being of our employees, customers and partners is also our concern. As all of you we try to cope with this exceptional situation and put our efforts into keeping the business activities of all Heliograph compa-nies running. Therefore, your contact persons are available as usual and the companies are working during the regular business hours. Our teams are operating partly in home-offices or in shifts, technical service and online support are fully available. We follow all governmental recommendations and several backup plans have been prepared by us to ensure that our companies can be kept in operation.

This means also we have taken measures to maintain the supply chain to our customers as good as normal. Our head offices in Germany, Switzerland and the U.S. and our main suppliers continue to ensure availability of parts and

consumables. Our warehouses were stocked up in the last weeks and we are sure of being well prepared. However, we will inform you immedi-ately should there be any difficulties caused by suppliers or changed circumstances.

Due to the seriousness and uncertain situation sea- and airfreight shipment can be cancelled or postponed. To prevent delay of shipments due to unforeseen transport issues, we would encourage you to plan your orders early.

We will try to maintain our engineering support for all countries as far as governments have not put them under travel restriction but will also follow the advice of the World Health Organiza-tion.

Observing the situation, we want to assure you, that we will do our utmost effort to continue our business engagements in these difficult times.

DAETWYLER GRAPHICS AND LÜSCHER TECHNOLOGIES MOVE INTO NEW BUILDING IN OFTRINGEN

In February 2020, Daetwyler Graphics and Lü-scher Technologies relocated from their existing headquarters in Bleienbach to Oftringen with its excellent transportation links.

Taking just 12 months to complete, the compa-nies’ new home boasts a 3,200 m² assembly hall and around 3,000 m² of offices and staff areas. The four-story building has the perfect layout for efficient process and production workflows, offering ideal, state-of-the-art working condi-tions for employees in all areas. „We’ve created the best possible conditions here to produce our equipment extremely efficiently. This move is a clear and logical step into the future for both companies,” says Dr. Rolf Pfiffner, CEO of Daetwyler Graphics AG.

MERLIN LASERS ELASTOMER COATING PLATES ON HELL S1000

Offset prepress service provider Merlin has been supplying directly engraved elastomer coating plates for

the surface finishing of folding cartons sin-ce 2013. In 2019, the company added a Pre-miumSetter S1000 to its production equip-ment, resulting in a number of significant advantages over the previous processes.

Headquartered in Essen, the Merlin Group is one of Germany’s leading prepress companies for offset printing. The Group is also actively in-volved in publishing, producing successful trade journals for all kinds of sectors. Its wide-ranging

portfolio covers everything from agency services and data processing to imaged offset printing plates. Merlin also manufactures flexographic coating plates for offset packaging printing throughout Germany. The company recently expanded its direct imaging capacity for coating plates by installing a PremiumSetter.

FLEX-PUNKT INSTALLS HIGH-PERFORMANCE PREMIUMSETTER FOR LAMS IMAGING

Long-standing partnership spawned new development

Two companies’ long-standing partnership has led to a successful new development. The high-performance PremiumSetter L1700 developed by HELL has now been put th-rough its paces and approved at Flex-Punkt.

Flex-Punkt Druckformen GmbH and HELL Gravure Systems GmbH & Co. KG have been working together for 20 years. Flex-Punkt

conducted the beta test for the very first laser from HELL Gravure Systems back in 2001, and it now has an impressive four direct lasers and two LAMS lasers from HELL. The ongoing dialog between the two partners also led to the idea of combining the technologies of Heliograph companies Lüscher Technologies AG and HELL to develop a new, universal solution for LAMS imaging.

Lüscher’s contribution to this project was its innovative diode laser, while HELL provided the tried-and-tested mechanical features of the PremiumSetter. The result is the new Premium-Setter L1700, which images at up to 5080 dpi – better than full HD quality! The L1700’s produc-tivity of up to 16 m2/h, regardless of the screen and imaging resolution, also makes it the fastest output device on the market. The maximum plate thickness is 6.35 mm. The X!Mask software developed by Lüscher automatically structures areas and lines using microcells, thus enabling higher density values in solids.

The L1700 was installed at Flex-Punkt in sum-mer 2019. The company put the unit through its paces in a beta test and it has now been approved.

CHEMOSVIT PREPARES FOR HD GRAVURE

Better printing results with MultiTune, HQH and XtremeEngraving

Continuous investment in the moderniza-tion of production equipment ensures the competitive edge. Chemosvit has commit-ted itself to this credo. With HD Gravure, the Slovakian foil printer is now investing heavily in the engraving quality of its gra-vure forms.

Chemosvit Folie is a subsidiary of the Chemosvit Group, based in Svit, Slovakia. The film manufac-turer and packaging printer produces approx. 30,000 gravure cylinders p.a. Approx. 85% of its products are exported by Chemosvit, mainly to other European countries.

With 3 x K500 Twain and 3 single-channel K500 engraving machines, Chemosvit has an impres-sive engraving capacity. To safeguard this invest-ment, Chemosvit regularly updates the software of the HelioKlischographs and has them preven-tively maintained by HELL service.

Now Chemosvit is gearing up for HD Gravure, the new quality standard in packaging gravu-re printing. To this end, all engraving systems will first be brought up to date, so that soon only the latest HelioSprint BC+, HelioXtreme 32 and HelioSprint III will be used for cylinder engraving. For more sharpness of contours the engraving systems will be equipped with Multi-Tune. Another SprintEasy measuring station will

support the regular measuring of the engraving gravers – an important prerequisite for repro-ducible cylinder engravings. The planned use of HQH Pro will improve the detail reproduction of fine text and graphic elements and round off the spectrum of HD technologies at Chemosvit.

By investing in HD Gravure, Chemosvit is crea-ting the conditions for even better printing re-sults: Enhanced contour sharpness on linework and text, precise detail reproduction, advanced colour precision and easy colour adjustment in printing.
