Contemporary Approaches to Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders

Embed Size (px)

DESCRIPTION

As the rates of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes continue to rise within the pediatric population, it is increasingly important for pediatric care providers to understand modern approaches to diagnosis and management of these and other endocrine conditions. To that end, this symposium incorporates multiple cases through which participants can practice and receive faculty feedback and support to build their clinical skills. The opportunity to examine and learn more about medical devices such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring devices in the exhibits will provide additional opportunities to learn more about current approaches to treating diabetes and other endocrine disorders in pediatric patients.

Case-Based Perspectives on Diagnosis, Assessment, and Management Strategies

Contemporary Approaches to

Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders for the Generalist and Specialist:

Children are not just small adults; they are a different population, with different disease manifestations, different treatment needs, and different communication and support requirements. As children and adolescents with diabetes and other endocrine conditions grow and develop, their care needs also evolve, which can make providing optimal primary care for children with endocrine conditions particularly challenging in a busy pediatric practice, whether care for the endocrine disorder is provided within the practice or by specialty care providers.
