R U L E S1. Local and State Rulesgovernthiscompetition.
2. ExhibitorsareresponsibleforreadingtheCompetitionGuidelinesandmustabidebythem.
3. See registration and competition dates on the cover page. No reminder cards will be sent.
4. If multiple entries are submitted by an individual within the same Class, entries will be disqualified.
5. Established plants only. Plants should be firmly rooted in container. Exceptions: air plants and plants grown hydroponically.
6. Small items should be securely fastened to their containers.
7. Items of great or sentimental value should not be used.
8. All plants will be displayed indoors for the duration of a week. Plants that will be adversely affected by these conditions should not be entered.
9. Plants will be watered as deemed appropriate by our expert staff. Exhibitors with plants that are very sensitive to watering may opt-out of our watering services. No other special requests can be honored.
10. No maintenance of entries is allowed during OC Fair public hours.
11. Exhibitors who wish to maintain their own entry may do so on the following days and times: Monday: 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Wednesday-Friday: 9 -11 a.m.; Saturday-Sunday: 9 - 11 a.m.
12. Permissible signage for entries is limited to plant identification and/or signage relating to the specific theme of the class.
13. Entries incorrectly entered/identified will be disqualified.
14. The same item cannot be resubmitted in subsequent competitions, neither under the original or a different exhibitor’s name.
15. The OC Fair reserves the right to refuse any entry that has a serious disease or insect problem.
16. The OC Fair is not responsible for lost, damaged or dead items.
17. Entries must be picked up during the designated pickup time (see cover page of this guide) or entries become the property of the OC Fair and may be discarded.
18. Size limit on hanging plants is 24 inches from hook to bottom of pot.
19. No wall-mounted entries.

Exhibitor Name• Entries must be made under the name of the individual who prepared it. • Do not use business or fictitious names. • There are no team entries. • Enter using the exhibitor’s name as it will appear on the display tag. This also applies to all youth entries.• Last year’s accounts are no longer valid. All exhibitors must create a new account.
EntryConfirmation• An email notification and confirmation will be sent immediately after your submission.• If the email confirmation does not arrive shortly, please check your Spam/Junk folder before contacting the OC Fair.

J u d g i n gQualified judges will be selected by the Program Coordinator and are selected from local professionals who are the top in their field. The judges are professionals and their decisions are final.
Adult DivisionsPlaced using the American Judging System where exhibits are ranked one against another.
• First, Second, Third Place and Honorable Mention may be awarded in each Class if judges so determine. More than one Honorable Mention per Class may be awarded.
• First Place Winners will compete for Division Winner. • Division Winners will compete for Best of Show.
Youth DivisionsPlaced using the Danish Judging System where each entry is judged on how well it meets a standard rather than how it compares to other entries.
• Entries are judged Blue (superior), Red (very good) or White (average) Award. • There may be more than one Blue, Red or White Award per Class.
JudgingJudging is not open to the public. Judges have the authority to disqualify any entry that does not meet the requirements specified. Judges are not obligated to award a place unless an entry merits a place.
Judging CriteriaJudges will look for balance between pot size, plant growth and design.
Plant Health (50%).............. Plant is in peak health. CleanFoliage&ProperGrooming(30%).............. No diseased or sunburned foliage. Design Distinction & Creativity (20%).............. Attractively potted and appropriateness to theme.

Judging Results Results can be viewed online at ocfair.com/results. We post results online as soon as possible. Please do not call or email for competition results.
RibbonsRibbons may be picked up on the competition dates listed on the cover page and on Final Pickup Day on Monday, August 12, 7 a.m. - noon.
Sweepstakes Award Check and PremiumsWill be made payable to the exhibitor whose name is indicated on the entry form and mailed within 30 days after the close of the 2019 OC Fair. Signed judging sheets will be used as evidence for payment of premiums. Ribbons and tags will not be accepted.
