The former “Girls Aloud” star, 35, and “One Direction” member, 24, confirmed the decision in posts on social media. The couple have a son, Bear, who was born in March last year. They said they were “sad” to make the announcement, and it had been a “tough decision to make,” adding, “We still have so much love for each other as a family.” Cheryl tweeted, “Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.” Newcastle-born Cheryl started her career on ITV’s “Popstars: The Rivals” in 2002 as one of the members of “Girls Aloud.” She then went on to launch a solo career and became a judge on “The X Factor” in 2008. In 2016, the twice-married star, who was born Cheryl Tweedy, said she wanted to be known just by her first name. Her relationship with Payne began after her divorce from French restaurateur Jean- Bernard Fernandez-Versini. She was previously married to the former England footballer Ashley Cole. Payne, originally from Wolverhampton, has gone on to forge a successful solo career after One Direction decided to take a break in 2015, with his song “Strip That Down” being streamed globally more than a billion times. In a video, the actor praised the NHS and called for U.S. citizens to campaign for better healthcare. Delaney, who has two further children with Leah, wrote on Twitter that two “typically won- derful” midwives had visited him and his wife to assess them for a home birth. Continuing his praise for the health service, he sent his “love” to protesters marching in London on Saturday to mark the NHS’ 70th birthday. The tweet also included a video he made for Democratic Socialists for “Medicare for All,” talking about the differences between the healthcare systems in the U.S. and the U.K. In the video, Delaney said, “Our son Henry passed away in January of this year from cancer and he was a beautiful little boy from the moment he was born until the moment he died. “And he benefited so much from the healthcare system here and so did we as his parents, because while we endured stress that was truly unbelievable, we didn’t endure the financial stress of wondering, ‘are we going to be able to pay for this?’ “‘Are we going to have to move during his treatment because we have to move into a smaller house? The video was released Thurs- day, the day his private funeral took place. The 20-year-old was facing a series of domestic violence charges when he died. Before his murder, his accuser Geneva Ayala gave an interview to the Miami New Times in which she detailed a shocking pattern of abuse — including strangula- tion, imprisonment and threats to cut out her tongue. In a handwritten note at the end of the video for “Sad!,” XXX- Tentacion appeared to reference the accusations. Throughout the clip, XXXTen- tacion is confronted by a hooded figure — presumably the grim reaper — who challenges him to fight his demons. “Your worst enemy is your- self,” it tells the rapper, who listens with his head bowed. “Humans must learn to love and compromise rather than destroy.” A title card for the video said it was “written and creative directed” by XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy. The tour was due to include two shows in his home town of Manchester. The announcement came less than a day after his manager attacked plans for an anti-racism protest event in the city. The Love Music Hate Racism night was organized by DJ Dave Haslam in response to conten- tious comments by the singer about religion and politics. Morrissey’s manager Peter Katsis responded by saying, “We are in the business of creating music and performing music. We are actually not in the business of politics.” However, the plans to perform music have now been put on hold until a South American tour in November and December. “Due to logistical circum- stances beyond our control, the U.K./European Morrissey concerts scheduled for July will be postponed,” said a statement attributed to “management.” “We deeply regret any incon- venience to the fans and promise to reschedule U.K. and European dates as soon as possible.” Fans’ ticket refunds will begin to be processed, the statement added.
