We pray that everyone is safe and healthy. The few Board members that we have,

are continuing to meet, while practicing the CDC’s recommended social distancing guidelines.

The Inspirational Brainstorming Team has had a harder time meeting, as they are a larger group.

We are still in need of Board members and applications for pilgrims, so that we might be able to schedule a

walk as soon as this pandemic has passed. As soon as we get the okay to meet as a large group,

we plan to schedule a Gathering, so that we can once again praise God for all of His Grace and Mercy

as a unified Emmaus Community. Keep in mind the above verse, which states that

God has plans for Emmaus, to prosper, give us hope and a future.

Information on Scheduling Walks

We are now following the Upper Rooms guidelines for scheduling a walk.

Sponsors and potential Pilgrims need to fill out and

complete the application and mail it in with the required deposit. Applications are available on the

web site and attached to the end of this newsletter.

Once we have a minimum of 20 applications on file we will then schedule a date for the walk. At that

time, contact will be made to the applicants (in the order received) and they will be given the choice to attend said scheduled walk. If they are unable to

attend, they will be put on hold until the next walk is scheduled and the process is repeated.

As a side note, the camp at Riverside Retreat simply got too expensive.

Therefore, we are holding the walks at Port LaBelle Inn, unless a less expensive venue

becomes available. Any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Board Opportunities There are many opportunities to help out on a committee or as a board member.

Typically the amount of time spent is about 4 hours a month, with some exceptions, i.e.: during the walks and monthly meetings (1st Thursday of each month 6:30pm-8:30pm).

Board members may serve on a team during their term (3 years) in office.

Without community support and board members, we will not have a chance of survival and will have to shut down.

If we cannot fill the all of the necessary board positions by the end of this year, we will have no choice, and will dissolve our Gulf Coast Walk to Emmaus organization.

The following positions are currently open: Agape/Prayer, Treasurer,

Gatherings/Facilities, Merchandising/Literature, Music/Entertainment, Outreach/Church Representative Coordinator. Community Lay Director, Secretary,

Here are some of the Job Descriptions for positions that are Available Agape/Prayer

Duties include: Leading prayer each month at our Board of Directors meeting for upcoming Emmaus

Walks, Kairos, Kairos Outside, Torch, and Chrysalis weekends taking place around the world for the next month. Sending out emails each month, with our wall agape attached to each of those communities.

A heart for intercessory prayer.

Treasurer This is a key position and it is helpful if you have some book keeping or accounting experience.

Duties include: being in charge of the bank account, accounts payable and receivable, all deposits and with-drawals. Also helps in collections of green agape for events and pilgrim deposits and payments for the

walks. Knowledge of insurance and non-profit organizations would be helpful as well.

Gatherings/Facilities Duties include: In charge of set up and tear down for the walks (a volunteer crew will help) at

Port La Belle Inn. This includes supervising the volunteer crew for each walk (both men and women), coor-dinate with person who has the Emmaus trailer to make sure it is brought out to Port La Belle,

inventory of the trailer (supplies for the walk/gatherings and contents of the trailer), set up talk room, chapel and send-off/closing room. After the walks, replace all items belonging to Emmaus back into trailer

in orderly manner (volunteer crew to help), take inventory for next walk, and coordinate for the trailer to be picked up.

For the gatherings, help to set up, tear down and clean up the facility/church where the gathering is being held. Take extra plates, cups, etc. back to trailer for storage.

Merchandising/Literature Duties include: Ordering crosses, literature and supplies for walks. Ensure that all items are taken to the

facility and verify supplies. Providing closing packet materials to the mailroom servant for the walks.

Music/Entertainment Duties include: Helping to train Music servants for the walks, organizing, setting up, or providing

entertainment for the community gatherings.

The weekend Walk fee is $225.00 (includes lodging, meals, materials, etc) Complete and return this form, including $75.00 non-refundable reservation fee,
