RoyBedardisaformerlawenforcementofficer,inventor,educator,consultantandPresidentofRRBSystems,International.Bedardisthecreatoranddeveloperofuniquepolicedefensiveproductsandcomprehensivedefensetrainingprograms,Bedardhasachievednationalandinternationalnotorietyincivilianselfdefense,lawenforcement,corrections,securityandmilitarycircles.Today,Bedardtravelsextensivelytosharehisexpertiseandknowledgeintheseoccupationalcommunities.Histrainingprogramscontinuetomeetthechangingdemandsoftheprofessionandhisinnovativeandprogressivetrainingstyleisnotableandsoughtafterinmanycountriesthroughouttheworld.Bedardbeganhisdefensiveskillstrainingin1979,whenheundertookthestudyofOkinawanUechi-RyuKarateandKodokanJudo.Overtheyearshe has become experienced in the disciplines of Aikido, freestylewrestlingandvariousformsofcombatjujutsu.In1984,Bedardearnedaspot on theUnited States Karate Team (OlympicNGB) and competedinternationallyuntilretiringin1996.FormanyyearshewasatopseededcompetitorintheUSMen’sHeavyweightFightingDivision.Forover thirty yearsBedardhas taughtat a varietyof academiesas apoliceandcorrectionsofficertrainer.Manyofhistrainingprogramshavebeenandcontinuetobeimplementedfordepartmentaluseworldwide.Heservesasaprivateconsultantandexpertwitnessprovidingresearchandcasepreparationforpublicsafety,andprivatesecurityrelatedissues.
Wellversedincivilliability,Bedardmakesuseofthisexperienceinthecontinueddevelopmentofquality,defensiblepolicetrainingprograms.BedardhasbeeninstrumentalinwritingtheDefensiveTacticsportionoftheCMSCurriculumfortheFloridaDepartmentofLawEnforcement.BedardhasinfluencedtrainingpracticesinmanydepartmentsintheUnitedStates,Europe,Canada,LatinAmerica,theMiddleEast,theCaribbeanandAsiaandhasbeendubbed,“TheWORLD’SPOLICEMAN”bytheUSCommercialServices.Hecontinuestoresearchnewtechnologyandnewtrainingmethodstofurtherdevelopthelawenforcementprofession.Hisopenmindedtrainingmethodhasearnedhimrespectamonghispeersbothwithinandoutsideofthelawenforcementcommunity.BedardholdsaMaster’sdegree inSport, ExerciseandPerformancePsychology fromtheFloridaStateUniversity.He ispresentlycompletingaPh.D.inthesamefieldofstudywithafocusoncognitiveprocessanddecisionmakingduringperiodsofacutestress.Bedardisfrequentlysourcedbythetelevision,radioandprintnewsindustriesforexpertadvice,insightandconsultationonmediaevents involvingpoliceandcorrections.Hehasco-producedandconsultedonseveral lawenforcementtelevisionshowsincludingROOKIES(A&E),FEMALEFORCES(Biography),OPERATIONWILD(PlanetGreen)UNLEASHED:K9BROWARDCOUNTY(A&E)andLIVEPD (A&E).His comments regardingpolice tactics haveappearedonABCNews,CBSNews,USATODAY,Al Jazeera anddozensofwebsites,magazinesandperiodicals.
