Consular Camp organised by the Consulate at Hindu
Sabha Temple, Brampton
Over 1200 life certificates were issued at the first Consular Camp organised by the Consulate at Hindu Sabha Temple, Gore Rd, Brampton. CG led a 10 member team from the Consulate and personally assisted applicants. 5 more Camps to be held in Nov, 2018. To know more, visit: www.cgitoronto.gov.in
143rd birth anniversary of India's 'Iron Man' Sardar Patel
The Gujarat Public Affairs Council of Canada, in association with Consulate General of India, Toronto celebrated the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Sringeri Temple, Etobicoke. Consul General Mr. Dinesh Bhatia elucidated the epithets ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Patron Saint’ of civil services accorded to Sardar Patel.
Meeting with Minister of Training, Colleges & Universities of
Ontario
Consul General met Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, MPP & Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities of Ontario and discussed welfare strategies for Indian international students studying in various Colleges and Universities in Ontario. CG and Minister's team will be jointly working on several welfare initiatives for international Indian students in Ontario.
Track 1.5 Dialogue: A Composite Delegation from India
A 5 member composite delegation comprising senior Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India (MEA) officials and Gateway House, the Indian Council on Global Relations visited Toronto from 31 October to 2 November 2018 for meeting scholars, think tanks, visionary leaders, business organisations and media houses as a part of Track 1.5 Dialogue between India and Canada. The India-Canada Track 1.5 Dialogue on Innovation, Growth and Prosperity is a three-year initiative between Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), to explore areas for closer cooperation. Experts, government officials and business leaders will convene annually to promote bilateral economic growth and innovation in today’s digital economy. Consulate General of India organised several meetings for the visiting delegation, including the editorial boards of Post Media, Globe & Mail; senior Professors from Munk School of Global Affairs and Policy, University of Toronto; Mars Discovery District, which is one of world's largest innovation hubs and Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce. The discussions with these scholars and think tanks took place in the presence of Consul General Mr. Dinesh Bhatia and focussed on accelerating the Track 1.5 Dialogue by way of forming new partnerships.

Progressive Conservative's Caucas Diwali Celebrations
Consul General participated in the Diwali Celebrations organised by the Progressive Conservative party of Ontario at Queens Park. Premier of Ontario, Hon. Doug Ford and key MPPs of Indian origin, Nina Tangri and Deepak Anand were also present in the celebrations.
Consul General participated in the reception for Indian participants at the 7th Parliament of the World 's Religions, being held from 1-7 November 2018 in Toronto. He thanked the organisers and trustees for their decision to honour Swami Vivekananda during this Parliament.
Consul General on 31 October 2018 administered at the Consulate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to preserve the unity, security and integrity of our nation on the occasion of National Unity Day and Integrity Pledge for Citizens.

Annual Diwali Celebrations organised by Akhand Bharti Club
Mr. Hoti Lal, Consul, participated in the Annual Diwali Celebrations organised by Akhand Bharti Club on 2 November 2018. He addressed the gathering and conveyed Diwali greetings on behalf of the Consulate General of India. He also briefed them about the upcoming Consular camps being organised by the Consulate.

Visit of Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, India
CG welcomed Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Member of Parliament, India’s Upper House (Rajya Sabha) to Toronto and joined him at his lecture on Indian economy hosted by Canada India Foundation at Sringeri Temple. Dr. Subramanian Swamy is an Indian economist, statistician and politician who serves as a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. He has made a phenomenal impact on India’s public discourse by crusading against corruption. Dr. Swamy was a Minister in India’s federal government in the early 1990s.

Visit of Prime Minister of Italy to India
The Prime Minister of Italy, H. E. Giuseppe Conte paid an Official Visit to India on 30 October 2018 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of India, H. E. Narendra Modi. A high level business delegation accompanied the Italian Prime Minister. The two Leaders held bilateral talks and delivered valedictory speeches in the final session of the 2018 edition of the Tech Summit, which was co-hosted by the two countries. The Leaders reiterated that India and Italy ties are based on shared principles and values of democracy, freedom, rule of law, respect for human rights and territorial integrity of States. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen mutual understanding and expand the range of bilateral engagement to promote peace, stability, economic progress and prosperity of the two countries. The Leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening the India-EU economic partnership and noted the on-going efforts of both sides to re-engage actively towards an early resumption of negotiations for a comprehensive, balanced and mutually beneficial India-EU Broad Based Trade and Investment Agreement.
