What's Staying: Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland

● Skills Test here to stay. Part of new craft SVQ’s in August 2011

- Apprentices will be sitting skills tests in 2020

- important part of assessing competence

● Current Framework of SVQ, PDA and Core Skills

● Registration with Apprenticeship Council

What's Changing: Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland

● Sequence of Delivery – Off-the-Job Training, Years 1,2, 3 and 4.

This change is driven by :

- need to increase achievement rates

- inconsistent preparation for skills test

- lack of evidence gathered from the workplace

- In some cases there is limited experience on site
