Tape Measure: - To measure the span of the wood

• Small pieces about 2 inches and 7 inches in span respectively are cut • The 7 inch piece is nailed in the middle of the remaining wood • Our assumption was that the thicker the beam, the stronger it would be
• Clearly we were wrong because the load path of this beam is only up to 100kg. • There were numerous reasons for the failure of this structure.

• They were o Wrong nails were used for the structure, hence not tightly locked in together o Design was not compact enough

- A force acting on a body, tending to compress the body. (Pushing action).
