Construction

The Weeks construction division specializes in the building of docks, wharves, piers, bridges, subaqueous pipelines and other waterfront structures. We work with both private and governmental clients in a number of markets, including marine infrastructure, energy, transportation and the environmental sector. Our services are performed under different types of contracts, such as bid/build, design/build, engineer Procure construct (ePc) and early contractor involvement (eci).

Working from office and yard locations on the east and Gulf coasts, Weeks personnel are matched with an unparalleled inventory of specialized equipment. This gives us the ability to self-perform the construction of large, complex projects in a variety of coastal zones. For projects that require dredging, specialized lifting, towing and/or barge transportation, we call upon our companion divisions, Dredging and Marine services, to provide an efficient and seamless experience for our clients. Through our key subsidiaries, Healy Tibbitts and Mcnally, our construction operations extend across the central Pacific and canada.

Marine Infrastructure

The world depends on reliable and well-built marine infrastructure. nearly 90% of the global economy’s goods are moved by ship, whether crossing vast oceans or making their way down inland rivers. additionally, our waterways are used for the transportation of people, with ferries shuttling commuters to work and delivering tourists to

sightseeing destinations. The U.s. navy and coast Guard also need solid marine infrastructure to carry out their daily duties and to support critical missions. Weeks helps serve all these needs and more. We work with clients in both the public and private sectors to build marine infrastructure that meets the demands of the modern world.

Energy

We play a vital role in the transmission of energy around the globe. Weeks builds the shipping and barge facilities that are used in the marine-based transportation of liquefied natural gas (LnG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), ethane, crude oil, gasoline, diesel, distillates, coal and coke. We also build barge loading facilities for the intracoastal

and river transportation of energy products. adding to our services, we construct marine pipelines for the movement of gas and liquids, and we perform the installation of ocean renewable energy systems. Our services are routinely performed under the engineer Procure construct (ePc) contracting structure.

Transportation

Most cities are situated near bodies of water, from rivers and lakes to expansive oceans. Weeks contributes to the development of vital transportation infrastructure through the construction of bridges, causeway structures and immersed tube tunnels. We also build boardwalks and esplanades, enabling pedestrians and cyclists to easily

travel along and experience the waterfront. Weeks offers maintenance and repair services, including the hardening of bridges and tunnels as a protection against natural forces and in the interest of national security. Weeks is staffed and equipped to efficiently address the construction needs for any transportation project.

Environmental

From crisis situations to long-term planning, we construct sound solutions for the environmental sector. Our services include the remediation of pollution in ports and rivers, emergency response following train derailments and similar accidents, the retrofitting of facilities to mitigate contamination, and protecting against storm surges

and flooding. We also install marine pipelines for the conveyance of materials for offshore dispersal. Weeks is particularly well-equipped for coastal projects that require barrier island and dune creation, earning us the distinction of being a top domestic provider of dredging and land reclamation services.

Modular Construction

To improve quality, safety and scheduling, Weeks incorporates modular construction techniques into our projects. This includes off-site fabrication of precast and steel dock components, platforms, pipe racks and access bridges. The on-site assembly of heavy, pre-assembled modules is made possible by the reach and lifting capacity offered by our specialized derrick barges.

Large-Diameter Pile Driving

Weeks is equipped to install long, large-diameter piles as components of our marine structures, as opposed to building upon a foundation of smaller, field-spliced piles. examples include the installation of monopile dolphins ranging in diameter from 84 inches to 120 inches or larger. We take full advantage of the headroom and lifting capacity offered by our derrick and jack-up barges for the installation of large diameter steel monopiles and spun-cast concrete cylinder piles.

Our Unique Capabilities

Page 13: Construction - Weeks Marine

Deep Foundation Drilling

across diverse regions, Weeks has completed challenging deep-foundation installations requiring the application of rock and soil drilling technologies. Tools and techniques include the use of crane-mounted drills, pile-top rigs, down-the-hole hammers, drilling with slurry, lead drilling systems and purpose-built deep foundation drills. We are skilled in handling various ground conditions, from sloping hard rock to cobbles and coral.

High-Capacity Derricks

Our expansive fleet includes 500-ton, 350-ton and 150-ton derrick barges. as purpose-built crane barges, capacity ratings are measured at an operational distance from the barge, rather than at a minimum boom angle as with crawler cranes. Given the lifting capacity, reach and headroom offered by our derricks, Weeks is uniquely equipped to build large projects rapidly and safely when combined with modular construction strategies and the use of large-diameter piles.
