Children’s Center and some of our TLC Team participated in The City of La Verne’s annual 4 th of July Parade. Pictured here are is the Children’s center float! In June the concrete flooring “slab on grade” was poured, leveled and then allowed sit and harden to obtain its maximum strength. Required samples were taken and tested during this time to track the hardening process. Other trades have been very active during the last month: the drywall contractor continued framing the interior metal stud walls; the fireproofing company began spraying all the columns and beams inside the structure, outside and under the roof; and the fire sprinkler, mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors were busy installing straps and hangers to hold the electrical conduit, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) ducting, plumbing lines and fire sprinkler lines. The various HVAC pads were poured; the equipment will be installed at a later date. The mechanical, electrical and plumbing work will continue throughout July and August. The second floor will be completed about a month prior to the first floor. Keep watching and stay safe! Whose responsibility is it to Protect “ Protected health Information(PHI)? Everyone providing or supporting patient care activities at Casa

Colina!

• Properly dispose of patient labels and other patient identifyinginformation in the blue confidential shred bins.

• Cover, turn over or lock in designated storage areas, all PHI that is notimmediately in use (i.e, reception area, open working areas, the medicalrecord rooms)

• Discuss a person’s PHI only if it is necessary to do your or another’s job.• If a staff member or health care worker requests patient information,

establish his or her authority to do so before disclosing anything• Be sure no one can see your computer screen while you are working;

lock the screen when you are not at your computer.• Keep passwords secure (and don’t share passwords)• Keep printouts of electronic information in a restricted or locked area

and destroy printouts that are no longer needed by putting them in theconfidential shred bins.

• Patient medical records are not to be left where others can see or gainaccess to them without proper authority to do so

• Posted or written patient information maintained in work areas such asnurses’ stations is kept secluded from the public

• Log off of your computer if you are not using it
