Pipe Alignment
Wastewater Pipe Improvements
Charlotte Water is planning to install new wastewater pipes to serve neighborhoods in Mint Hill. Construction will start in February and will be completed after September. When finished the project will enhance pipe performance, provide increased wastewater capacity for current and future customers and protect the water quality of Irvins Creek.
During ConstructionConstruction can be loud, dirty and inconvenient. Crews will be using heavy equipment and storing materials on-site. Construction will take place within easements and the road right-of-way. Crews may remove trees and debris from easements starting in late February. Large legacy trees along the edge of the easement will be preserved if possible.
Construction Traffic• Crews will start by tunneling under Lawyers Road (near BB&T Bank
and Monroe Hardware Shopping Center) and Matthews-Mint Hill Road (Highway 51 between Burger King and First Citizens Bank).
• Expect to see excavators and several dump trucks in the easements and road right-of-way.
• During construction, Evans Road will be closed temporarily for two weeks and Credit Union Way will be closed during two separate weekends. These road closures will be announced at a later date.
• Once the pipe is installed near your property, you may continue to see construction traffic along the easements until the pipe is tested, manholes are adjusted and restoration is complete.
Customers May Feel a Rumble Occasionally • Crews may remove rock
formations by small blasting or rock hammers.
• Property owners within the 500 foot radius of blast sites will be contacted for a pre-blast survey of buildings. This will only occur if blasting is determined to be required.
• Blasting is a standard construction procedure and all safety precautions will be taken.
• Residents may hear a warning horn and feel a slight vibration or rumble similar to a slammed door or thunder.
CLTWater user fees (i.e. water bill) fund improvement projects.
