Cashew – A Global Learning ChallengeCashew is an irresisti ble
delicacy! What we bring to you is Cashew, Inclusive learning and
ESD. It is for the ninth and tenth grades but easily adaptable for
other levels. Filled with perspecti ves from South Africa, India,
Germany and Mexico – the four ESD Expert Net countries – it is for
teachers and young learners to examine social, ecological, economic
and global trade by exploring – botany, history, politi cs, culti
vati on, world trade, fair trade and climate asepct of the Cashew.
The Conspicuous Cashew becomes the means to examine many
topics!
Content and methodology are crucial to achieve inclusivity. At a
fi rst glance, this looks like a resource about Cashew! It is that
and more – an ESD resource for inclusive learning demonstrated
through Cashew. The resource contains a variety of inclusive
pedagogical ideas for students in vari-ous global contexts.Educati
onal policies of India are inclusive and this edu-cati onal
resource contributes to realising inclusivity. We fi rmly believe
educati on must be joyful and support ALL children in their
learning endeavour and that is why we chose the Cashew.
Internati onal experts from the ESD Expert Net
(www.esd-expert.net) as well as teachers in inclusive and special
educati on from these four countries parti cipated in the creati on
of the inclusive educati onal material.This project was realized in
cooperati on with Behinderung und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit e.V.
(bezev), Essen, Germany (www.bezev.de).
The Material The learning material contains factual texts
with
background informati on for the teacher as well as didacti
c-methodical guidelines for implementati on in heterogeneous
classes.
The accompanying DVD contains work sheets for students prepared
for the inclusive class as well as, audio fi les, images and
pictograms. The inclusive educati onal material is suitable for
teaching and learning in heterogeneous classes and can be used
individually and as needed. With this it supports teaching and
learning in diverse class setti ngs and contains the following
adaptati ons:

The Material Box box supplements the manual as well as the
accompanying DVD and contains also tacti le world map, materials in
braille and laminated pictures. This makes learning with all the
senses possible for all students.
