we founded in Barcelona the company Solucions Ultima Milla, S.L.
(Last Mile Solutions) with the aim of distributing goods in a
sustainable and safe way in the cities. The reason for our company
to be started is to find a bicycle able to carry up to 180 kg.
Vanapedal is the trademark used to transport goods in vans with
pedals with people literally that goes by pedal (in spanish).
During the pilot we are testing diferent solutions for last mile
delibery and we hope we will continue existing after this pilot

Company consolidation pilot 2010: - Comes first tricycle. - We test
different types of transportation and customers. - We are the
pioneers in Barcelona and Catalonia 2011: - we start distributing
with two tricycles for TNT in the city center. - Finalists in the
constest EcoEmprenedor XXI 2012: - We continue with a third
tricycle for TNT in another area - We where at Cambrige on the
first Cycle Logistics meeting - We start with SEUR in the city
center. - First prize in the contest EnerAgen 2012 2013: - Third
tricycle for TNT finishes and changes to SEUR - Starts the
consolidation pilot. - We work with five Transport Operators 2014:
- We are 11 people on staff and our fleet is 6 rear load tricycles,

6 The City Council of Barcelona carried out a pilot platform for
capillary urban goods distribution using cargo electric tricycles 6
during months. This city project is related to the SMILE European
project in which the City Council wishes to test and draw
conclusions by studying the viability of the service and its
continuity. The main objective is to benefit transport operators,
and the whole society. The partners are: the mobility department of
the City, the Commercial department, urban landscape, Mr. Simon
Hayes, Zenit and Saba Parkings. The ultimate goal is to develop a
network of micro- distribution nodes around the city and but also
around the country and the european community. The activity
involves the redistribution of parcels in a multi-operator
prefabricated module located next to the historical center of the
city. The capillary distribution is done with electric tricycles.
Membership of transport operators to this project is free. There
will be a workshop on 20 th may in Barcelona. SMILE 11 partners 6
