Chat Log Conrad Creative Collaboration Meeting September 28, 2013

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Hey guys!

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): I'm muted right now but my name is James Wang and

    I'm on TANHC with Mario.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Mario said he'll be a few minutes late because of someclub function he has at Stanford

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): I'm good!

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Hey Fabian do you want to go over last meeting's notes?

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): ^before Mario gets here?

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): we could go 1-by-1 and offer individual opinions as to

which idea is the most viable

James Wang (to Organizer(s) Only): Hi Peter!

James Wang (to Organizer(s) Only): Hey Fabian do you want to me to review last meeting's

    notes?

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): Hi Everyone! Just thought I'd let you know I joined a few

minutes ago, sorry for being late.

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): investors possibly get good PR for investing in non-profit

    ventures, which could incentivize them

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): hi mario :)

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): did you know the approximate price of the

    dettering light

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): do you know

Ritika Arya (to All - Entire Audience): the well is approx a 1 km walk from the village

Ritika Arya (to All - Entire Audience): And for the other villages facing a simmilar problem the

    distance is much longer

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): rule it outRitika Arya (to All - Entire Audience): im not sure if the villagers will be allowed to do that

Ritika Arya (to All - Entire Audience): it could turn against them, if they are caught meddling

    with the jungle too much

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): thats a good idea but would that serve our

purpose to the fullest extent because it sounds like a temporary idea to me

Alex Berwick (to All - Entire Audience): Do you know the current effectiveness of villagers

banging sticks on items to cause excessive noise to deter leopards?

Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): I have an idea.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Peter is right. Even investors would like some hard facts

and statistics.Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): so with the cistern do we just collect the water or

    do we pump it?

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): An unrelated question (sorry): Are there any animals

    that leopards are afraid of.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Okay thank you

Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): The hose solution could technically be viable, because

it would eliminate the problem of going to the well at all, unless you need to "fix" it or

something. It would be a 1 time purchase, and would be enviromental friendly.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Here's a thought: I googled "leopard expert" and came

    up with this http://cloudedleopard.org/default.aspx?link=resources_expert

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Perhaps we should consider bringing in an animal

expert/leopard expert to field our more technical questions?

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): maybe we can tap into the engineering knowledge of ourteammembers to strive to slightly modify already existing designs of hand pumps

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wqp-1Ojcbg0) in order to reduce cost and increase

    simplicity

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): also, during a high school presentation, i heard of

engineers without borders conducting a similar piping project in a 3rd world community -

maybe we could seek mentorship from them, and I could actually ask my high school teacher if

he has specific contact info to this particular team

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): i'll do it!

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): i will

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): I WILL

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience):jinx

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): I WILL

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): DO IT

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): WAIT you know...

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Hey guys, Tiffany, another consultant from TANHC that

just joined me, mentioned this: "Going back to the well and plumbing, if you do it right, you

should not need power for it to work. PVC piping with a hand-pump, or a leg pump (i.e. a

bicycle pump), or PVC piping above ground.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): ^so I guess that's in lieu with what Mario just said

Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): Hand pump idea - We could have pumps set at certainareas where there could be low pressure, and the pumps would operate automatically, perhaps

with solar powered, or powered from the water going through them.

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): I would be willing to work on the hose idea - I can contact

my engineering teacher and connect Ethan with the contact from Engineers Without Borders

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): as part of the bay area, i would focus more on ALD

development as well - guys, I'll definitely be able to book some pretty awesome conference

rooms at Stanford, so let me send out a group email tonight

Rajiv R (to All - Entire Audience): a tap is a faucet

Rajiv R (to All - Entire Audience): this is sanjana

Ritika Arya (to All - Entire Audience): i have to be at the school in about 20 minutes so i'll takeyour leave guys

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Tiffany asked: How often does it rain? And what are the

    current ways of catching it?

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): As part of a course that I am taking, I am also gaining

experience in the Product Realization Lab at Stanford, so I can definitely tap into that resource

(in addition to classy conference rooms) to build our prototypes!

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Oh okay I see, yes that answers it.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Thank you!

Rajiv R (to All - Entire Audience): thanks Ritika!

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): thanks :)

Jonathan (to All - Entire Audience): Thank you!

Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): Thanks.Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): Mario and I have offered to do the hose idea.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Refer to the website link here if you wish for a starting

    point :)

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience):

    http://cloudedleopard.org/default.aspx?link=resources_expert

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): ^leopard expert

Rajiv R (to All - Entire Audience): I can research things that were done to ward off leopards in

    the past

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): i will contact the leopard expert

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): ashley, vaishnav, and james, why don't you all share

email/contact info with each other so you can stay in touch as to contacting leopard experts

Ashley Liu (to All - Entire Audience): sure thing

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): k

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Sure, [email protected]

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): [email protected]

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): can you please post a link

Conrad Foundation (to All - Entire Audience): conradcreativecollaboration.com

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): And I (along with Mario) will take the meeting notes

back to TANHC and do a little further review. Mario will get back to you if we have any new

observations/suggestions.Conrad Foundation (to All - Entire Audience): excellent, thank you

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): thank you, this was a really great meeting

Alex Berwick (to All - Entire Audience): I would just like to say regarding the concerns for

investors, to which you bring up a good point regarding not being profit-driven, I will note your

concerns and questions and contact upper management regarding what the plan is for funding.

which I can share details with at our next meeting.

Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): Are we having a second meeting tomorrow?Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): in addition to meeting notes i will be sending out action

    items

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Hey Mario, add Alex to those action items

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Hey Ashley we can sitll see your screen!

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): in terms of looking into investors for our project?

Mario Chris (to All - Entire Audience): ^^ james

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Yes Mario, thanks.

Vaishnav Kuruvanka (to All - Entire Audience): im sorry i have to leave, and once again this was

really great and i look forward to the next meeting

Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): We need to keep bumping the page, Its not worth

    posting if nobody sees it.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Mario wanna review the action items outloud one last

    time?

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): Oh, and one more action item:

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): -Consult a plumber?

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): A plumber might be able to give us some advice on the

    plumbing/hose/pipe idea.

James Wang (to All - Entire Audience): sounds good, see you guys next month!

Jonathan (to All - Entire Audience): see ya! and I don't think we should ask

Ethan Colman (to All - Entire Audience): Glad everyone had the time to get together.and plan

    this.
