Absorption Speed -– How quickly the moisture passes through the top layer of the pad, the faster this happens the greater the comfort level.
Spread Rate -– How quickly moisture disperses to the outer perimeter of the pad. The faster moisture moves from the centre of the pad where the
patient is positioned, the drier the bed pad will feel. The objective is to contain the spread just as it reaches the outer perimeter of the pad, CONNI has achieved this. Many products have a very fast rate of spread but the fluid runs off the edge of the bed pad therefore wetting the mattress and linen.
Wickback Amount -– The percentage of moisture passing back up through the top of the pad to the surface under pressure. A lower percentage indicates a lesser amount of moisture.

CONNI commercial products DO NOT contain Cotton, PVC or Latex. We are often asked if we use cotton in our products because the perception is that it’s better for the skin. Cotton should never be used when moisture control is required, any bed pad that has cotton fabric for the top layer will stick to the skin and feel wet.
Over the years there has been a shift to disposable products due to the lack of performance of past washable products. Today’s technology in reusable textiles is moving forward at a rapid rate allowing us to create innovative products that not only work well for the intended use but are also far more cost effective and much better for our environment.

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 CONNI products hold this important international accreditation to guarantee our products are safe to use against the skin and do not contain harmful chemicals. Many retailers and health care providers throughout the developed world now require this certification. Amongst other criteria, the Oeko-Tex accreditation cannot be achieved if PVC is used as the waterproof barrier.
