If you’ve ever had a dream to make the
world a beer place, you’ll want to learn
more about legacy giving. The first thing
that most people discover is that you
don’t have to be one of the world’s rich
and famous to leave a legacy gi.
Planned giving can be made by donors of
all financial standing and be as simple as
making a bequest in a will or trust.

Nearly 275,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year,
with more than three million survivors of the disease living at any given
me, according to the American Cancer Society. About half of the newly
diagnosed breast cancer cases come from women over the age of 60, and
another 20 percent come from women over 70 years old. At age 80, the
chances of you developing breast cancer over the rest of your life begin
to decrease, according to Harvard Medical School.
The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s
found and treated early. Talk to a doctor about your risk for breast
cancer, especially if a close family member of yours had breast or
ovarian cancer. Your doctor can help you decide when and how oen to
get mammograms.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer found in elderly
women. A woman has a one-in-eight chance of developing breast cancer
over her lifeme, according to the Naonal Cancer Instute. The older a
woman is, the more likely it is she will be diagnosed with the disease. On
average and across all races, there is about a 9 percent chance that a 60-
year-old woman develops breast cancer over her next 20 years.

She works relessly to resource in-kind donaons of vital diagnosc tesng and medical treatment for our uninsured clients. Gisela sets the bar as an example of excellence at CARES. CARES Announces Adopt-A-Senior
Those interested in providing a special gi for a senior are encouraged to contact Brenda Martyniak, CARES Communicaons Director at 727-992-2249 or email . Donaons can be mailed to:[email protected]
Your donaon can give a wonderful and meaningful gi that will last beyond the holidays! The Adopt-A-Senior Program is designed to spread cheer and help reduce the day-to-day struggles of CARES elderly, at-risk clientele.
Currently, CARES staff is in the process of compiling wish lists that can help improve the quality of life for at-risk, low-income seniors in our community. We will be reaching out to corporate donors, service organizaons and charitable individuals who have the capacity and desire to gi a blessing to a senior in need.
Addionally, CARES locaons will be collecng donaons of every day necessies such as shampoo, deodorant, hand loon, socks, pajamas, slippers, bed linens, towels, blankets, etc. Your gis will be greatly appreciated.
The holidays are fast approaching and, for many, it is a me of addional struggle and heartache.
The core of CARES mission is helping frail, low-income seniors. Our elderly clients receive assistance for home care and medical support. Major purchases such as a refrigerator or maress are oen a financial impossibility and many of our seniors are living without normal conveniences that we take for granted.

BUNCO “FUN”RAISING SUCCESS!In September, CARES Elfers Center hosted a very successful BUNCO Brunch. It was a first-me experience for many of the Bunco players and everyone agreed it was a good me. Ten raffle baskets went to lucky winners. The prizes were donated by supporters of CARES Elfers Center and CARES Travel.
Pam Barbara from the bi-monthly Bunco group helped organize the fundraiser. Corporate sponsors were: Sprouts, Chick-fil-A, Madison House Restaurant and Culver’s. Proceeds raised over $800 for CARES Elfers Center. We would like to thank all the volunteers, sponsors and parcipants!
If you enjoyed the Bunco Brunch and Fundraiser, please join us at CARES Elfers Center for Bunco on two Tuesdays a month. See page 5 for dates and mes.
Our friends from Atria Windsor Woods stopped by to share a beauful
community project called “The 100-Day Gratude Challenge.” The project
encourages people to write posive messages on the backs of paper
buerflies and aach them to an artwork canvas. A 100-day checklist offers
ideas to share our gratude and focus on the good in our lives. You are
welcome to stop by the CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D. Acvity Center and be a
