“Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. I assure you: They’ve got their reward! But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. When you pray, don’t babble like the idolaters, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words. Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:5-8 When we pray – where we pray - how we pray – for whom/what we pray are the essentials of a quality and successful prayer life. We live in a day when our only foundation is God’s Word. The world has done well in stripping away the familiar, long standing perceived foun-dations of the Christian faith. Those principles we sometimes wrongly assumed were important and immovable. And though the world continues to chip away at those things we once thought important, the church is realizing the only im-portant things are those which cannot be taken away – God’s Word and PRAYER. But, when we pray, where we pray, how we pray and for whom/what we pray now become very critical as we don’t want to pray “amiss”, or absent of the understanding of God’s purposes. Too often our prayers are based on our earthly perception of how we think things should be when in actuality our prayers are to be based on a Heavenly per-ception of how God wants them to be.

Pastor John McArthur recently penned these words - "So when you want to find an evidence of genuine salvation in someone's life and when you want to find a motive or incentive to the highest excellence of Christian virtue, and when you're looking for someone who has true joy, someone who can stand against temptation, someone who maintains the vigor and diligence of spiritual service, someone who honors God above everything else and someone who wants to repay God for His goodness, you're going to find somebody whose heart is in heaven. The noblest of all Christians, the godliest of all saints, the most virtuous of all believers are going to be heavenly minded and they're going to life in the life of eternity." (my emphasis added) We do not pray enough. We do not pray with a heavenly mindset. Sadly for many, we do not pray. I will speak for the next four weeks about the imperative essential of a prayer life. I ask each of you to join me at the altar EVERY SUN-DAY MORNING AT 10:30A to pray down the Glory of God not only on the service, not only on this church, but into the very lives of His people.
