Over recent years, the last day of WTM (Thursday) has been a travel agent focused day. Reed has found this challenging as travel agents struggle to get time out of the office and hence numbers have been limited. WTM have changed the format this year so that the event ends on Wednesday 9th November. Lending some of the experience which we have gained via our Connections events, The Connecting Travel Destination Showcase will be an interactive showcase where the travel agents and tour operators will be able to network with the destinations in a relaxed and creative environment. We aim to create a medium for the travel agents to learn and benefit from some of the leading destinations in the global travel industry at a time which is more convenient for them. It is equally an opportunity for the tourism organisations to gain valuable customer insight from the UK’s travel agents and tour operators directly. For ECM members: We are creating a dedicated section of the floorplan solely for ECM members. European cities continue to be among the most popular destinations outside of the UK and we are seeking to highlight the diversity and variety of Europe’s There will be 3 distinctly different areas of the Showcase: • Asia – in partnership with The Pacific Asia Travel Association • Latin America – in partnership with The Latin American Travel Association • Europe – in partnership with European Cities Marketing Each of these themed areas will have its own distinctive entertainment and theming such as: Pad Thai and Cairpirnhas as well as a variety of other local hospitality and “street food”. This showcase will truly bring the world to the UK travel agents like never before. For the destinations, they will have the opportunity to meet with the UK’s leading travel agents and tour operators in London in a cost effective manner as they will be in London for WTM already.
