• RIHousing is one of three RI PHAs collecting the 50058 data
• Data entry began in Oct/Nov 2017 for re-certifications effective 2/1/18
• Survey questions were initially added to (paper) recertification packet
• RIHousing moved to online re-certifications 8/1/18, tenants now complete form online via DocuSign (but staff still must enter)

• HCV Program Manager provided staff training and initial oversight
• Only staff see the survey version with letter codes (avoids tenant confusion)
• Had to determine how to add this data to existing data in “PHA use” fields
• Data entry has now become routine

What Have We Learned?

• After three quarters of data, about 40% of tenants report being connected (probably a low estimate)
• Preparing to deploy 40 T-Mobile tablets in January to randomly selected, unconnected families
• Additional information
o First ever data on how tenants use the Internet (job search, services, etc.)
o Basic correlations between connectivity and education/employment outcomes
• More analysis needed across all 3 PHAs to understand implications
