The challenge

The company wanted to maintain an entrepreneurial, collaborative culture and ensure continuity between the global hub and regional markets. Traditional communication, including top-down broadcasts and email lists, couldn’t support the company’s business needs.

Booking.com launched Workplace in 2016.

Product development: Booking had global conversations on Workplace on how to improve the product through better personalization that is realized through a hackathon.

Giving everyone a voice: As an example, US Brand Director held a virtual brainstorm where employees from 8 countries came together to share their perspectives.

Breaking down information silos: Customer Service staff have critical insights from consumer opinion. They now have a place to engage with peers and provide key feedback to their HQ to improve the product and serve customers better. Celebrating successes: The company created a virtual celebration for their One Million Properties milestone. 2,000 employees came together to share their stories.


The challenge 90% of Clarins UK Group employees work remotely on retail beauty counters all over the UK. Whilst head office and field management teams were using email to stay in touch, there was no way to connect frontline retail employees besides the traditional cascade from management teams.
