Our Communion With God • 11:00 am serviceSilent ConfessionGeneral Confession: God, so often I hold too tightly to the past and let it define me. My expectations don’t match the vision you have. I hope and wait; not realizing you’ve already provided. Forgive me. Teach me to let go of what keeps me bound. Align my expectations with your reality so that I may participate in the kingdom of God. Let this be the year of the Lord’s favor. Amen.

Decision Form: If you feel moved to respond in a tangible way. I am making a decision to become a follower of Jesus,

or I want to rededicate myself to that decision. I have questions about spiritual things and would like

to talk to someone. Other:

One of our pastoral staff would be happy to make an appointment to talk with you about your spiritual life and what steps might come next — but only if you wish.

I would like to schedule a time to talk.

Nominating CommitteeAt our Congregational Meeting next February, we will elect three

members to our Board of Directors. Those positions are currently held by Jennifer Barnes, Ernest Disney-Britton, and Nancy Duncan. Jennifer and Ernest are willing to stand for re-election. However, after eight years of service on the Board, Nancy has decided she’s ready for a rest! We honor and celebrate Nancy’s remarkable service!

Under our church bylaws, the Board of Directors is responsible for creating a Nominating Committee before each election to ensure that at least one candidate is available for each position. This year’s Nominating Committee will consist of Pastor Jeff, one Board member (Sarah Kaminski), and two other church leaders.

The Nominating Committee will review all individuals who ex-press an interest, then prepare nominations. If you are interested in being considered, please fill out the form below. To stand for election to the Board, you must be a member of the Church for at least six months prior to the election. Board members are expected to attend regular monthly meetings, help process the offering on a rotating schedule, and serve on various subcommittees. The typical Board member invests about six hours a month in service time.

Temple Keepers NeededWhen people first enter the doors of our church, one of the first

things they notice is a clean and well kept facility. We don’t have a paid janitorial service, but what we do have are wonderful volunteers who scrub, dust and vacuum to keep this place looking good.

If you want to serve, but want to do it behind the scene, this may be the opportunity for you. You only serve once every four weeks, at your convenience. If this is the service call for you, please fill out the form below.

ICON NewsLifeJourney Church has a long history of working toward justice

for the LGBTQ community in Indiana. Back in 1998, LifeJourney Church (Jesus MCC at the time) created the Interfaith Coalition on Non-Discrimination, ICON, to coordinate the efforts of faith leaders all over the state toward defeating discriminatory legislation. The board of ICON consists of members of affirming congregations throughout the state; all of whom are committed to giving a faith voice in support of LGBTQ Hoosiers. Twenty-two different churches and synagogues are members of ICON. Hundreds of clergy from across the state have signed ICON letters to state legislators!

Last month, Pastor Melody was appointed chair-person of ICON. Melody has a passion for social justice and is thrilled to channel that passion into the amazing work that ICON is doing. As a part of her role as chair-person, recently Pastor Melody helped coordinate, with Freedom Indiana, a press conference at the Statehouse for faith leaders to oppose HJR6. ICON delivered a letter of opposition to the mailbox of every Indiana legislator with over 300 clergy signatures asking lawmakers to reject discrimination and vote against HJR6. The event generated significant press coverage. It will take a strong voice of faith to defeat this legislation and ICON, under Melody’s leadership, is committed to lead the effort toward justice for all people. Your giving generosity makes it possible for Melody to spend a portion of her time leading this vital justice endeavor!

Tapestries On The WallOn the sanctuary walls today you will see a brilliant medley of

tapestries painted by artist Tony Melendez. Each tapestry portrays a scene or symbol drawn from the life of Christ.

Tony is a long-time active participant in our congregation. He has donated these tapestries, worth thousands on the open market, free of charge, as a gift of love.

Here We Go!After careful inquiry and dialogue, the Board of Directors has se-

lected architect Greg McMullen to design on our Pioneer 4 Classroom Renovation Project. Greg is an experienced architect who has designed numerous commercial projects, including the most recent addition to the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Greg is also a long-time member of LifeJourney Church. Over the past year, he has donated countless free hours helping us rough-out design concepts and prepare detailed cost estimates before we launched our Pioneer 4 fund drive earlier this year.

Because of your generosity, we now have the funds necessary to create a new wing of five classrooms! Here’s the timeline we hope to achieve:

• December: Prepare blue prints. • January–February: Receive bids from contractors, select

winning bid, obtain construction permit. • February–May: Construction.

Lord willing, by spring we’ll have a brand new wing of five class-rooms for our children, Oasis Groups, and Discipleship Classes!! Let’s pray for God’s guidance and blessing on the entire process. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email [email protected].
