Friday 16 - Sunday 18 May 2014
CQ Functions, 113 Queen St, Melbourne
Summary
The annual Toastmasters conference represents a wonderful opportunity for
personal and professional development. A top line-up of expert presenters will
give you the tips and tools you need to take your speaking to the next level.
Two internationally acclaimed speakers:
◊ Dr David Keane asks “What does success mean to you?” He shares his re-
search into this topic and explores what successful people do that others
don’t. You will learn strategies to overcome setbacks and be more resilient.
◊ Leanne Faraday-Brash describes the tell-tale signs and symptoms of destruc-
tive workplaces, or ‘vulture cultures’. She will discuss successful strategies for
responding to an attack. Her presentation has an innovative twist: with the
help of the audience, Leanne will deconstruct and critique her own keynote.
We offer the “Introduction to public speaking” workshop which addresses the
core skills required to present with confidence. Throughout the weekend you
will have the opportunity to select from a range of educational workshops and
see skilled speakers in action as they compete in a variety of contests. You will
network with like-minded individuals during the breaks and at the gala dinner.
Learning Objectives By the end of the workshop participants should be more able to:
◊ define the components of and deliver a compelling presentation
◊ confidently deliver compelling presentations
◊ identify the tools required to give constructive, motivational feedback
◊ drive their own success in a deliberate, considered way
◊ ensure their online presence is appropriate and engaging
