†hymn AURELIAHelp Us Accept Each Other

Help us accept each other as Christ accepted us; teach us as sister, brother, each person to embrace. Be present, Lord, among us, and bring us to believe we are ourselves accepted and meant to love and live.Teach us, O Lord, Your lessons, as in our daily life we struggle to be human and search for hope and faith. Teach us to care for people, for all, not just for some, to love them as we find them, or as they may become.Let Your acceptance change us, so that we may be moved in living situations to do the truth in love; to practice Your accdeptance, until we know by heart the table of forgiveness and laughter's healing art.Lord, for today's encounters with all who are in need, who hunger for acceptance, for righteousness and bread, we need new eyes for seeing, new hands for holding on; renew us with Your Spirit; Lord, free us, make us one!

†sending forth Dr. Robert E. Long The stories of our faith remind us of: the freedom found in forgiveness, the strength of family, the power of love.We commit our lives to share God’s love and bring hope to the world!

Rev. David PoteetPastor of Congregational Care

The Bible was written long ago by many different people on the other side of the world, we still recognize our own lives throughout scripture in the successes, failures, relationship struggles, and our need to be accepted. The more we know about the Bible, the more we learn about ourselves and those around us. In 2018, we seek to learn more about how the stories in scripture tell us about God, because God’s story is our story.

†hymn 89 HYMN TO JOY

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore TheeJoyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love; hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness; drive the dark of doubt away. Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day! All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heaven reflect Thy rays, stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea, chanting bird and flowing fountain, call us to rejoice in Thee. Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest, well-spring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest! Thou our Father, Christ our brother, all who live in love are Thine; teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine. Mortals, join the mighty chorus which the morning stars began; love divine is reigning o'er us, binding all within its span. Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife; joyful music leads us sunward, in the triumph song of life.

†Call to WorshiP Rev. Phil GreenwaldWe have been created in the image of God and we are united by our kinship in Christ.God calls us toward reconciliation and healing.Christ has forgiven us and called us to forgive one another. We know the healing power of mercy; we have been set free.As a family of faith we can draw together forgive one another and be united.

†affirmation of faith As a family of faith, let us affirm our faith together.Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?Shall tribulation or distress, or persecution or famine, or nakedness or peril or sword?

No!In all things we are more than conquerors through the one who loved us.We are sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thanks be to God! Amen.

†gloria Patri MEINEKEGlory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

†olD TesTamenT lesson Rev. Wendy LambertThen Joseph could not control himself before all those who stood by him; and he cried, “Make every one go out from me.” So no one stayed with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers. And he wept aloud, so that the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it. And Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph; is my father still alive?” But his brothers could not answer him, for they were dismayed at his presence. So Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, I pray you.” And they came near. And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. For the famine has been in the land these two years; and there are yet five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. So it was not you who sent me here, but God; and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
