N E W S L E T T E R D A T E Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing, Casa Santo Spirito,00163 Via dei Bevilacqua 60, Rome Italy
May our Constitutions which is now on its 30th year of existence help us remain faithful to our religious profession of conversation morum, be effective ministers of new evangelization, an-swer the missionary calling here and abroad and be responsible stewards of God’s creation.
M. Angela Strobel, OSB attended the triennial plenary assembly of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) held at Hotel Ergife in Rome from May 3-8 with 800 women religious in attendance. The theme was "IT SHALL NOT BE SO AMONG YOU." S. Mary John Mananzan, OSB gave the first con-
ference on “Post Vatican II Per-spectives on Religious Leader-ship.”
The last day, May 8, was capped with a private audience with Pope Francis who said that the church "would be missing maternity, affection, tender-ness" without the religious women. During his talk,
the Pope made note of the gathering's theme of servant leadership, saying that the es-sence of power is service. "We must never for-get that true power, at whatever level, is service, which has its bright summit upon the cross."
“Our new Constitutions which we had submitted to the Sacred Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Propaganda Fide
on December 3, 1982, were
approved by the Holy See on
June 29, 1983.”

most wonderful audience I have ever experienced. …
And last but not least, your carefully manicured and beautiful garden is an oasis of calmness . Also, how nice it was for me as a mother of four children to sit at a dinner table while you so attentively and lovingly fed us.” Werner Schniepper, President of
Knabenkantorei Basel, writes,
Dear Sr. Kunigundis,
The Casa provided the ideal conditions for us. We
experienced kindness and cordiality. This is not an everyday ex-
perience. Hosting such a large number of young persons also
involves great restlessness and some inconveniences for you. We
thank you and your co-sisters for making us feel at home at the
Casa during our stay in Rome.

Sr. Aquinata Boek-
mann, OSB relates an event
during her break from the
RB conferences she con-
ducted in Jerusalem, “On
May 3, I could go with Sr.
Christine to the place of the Jor-
dan where Jesus was baptized.
This was generally not accessi-
ble because of land-mines. The
Jordan is the frontier of Israel
and Jordania. The Israelis cleared a small corridor so
that the place could be visited, and even one could go
into the water, of course that I did. We had time to
pray and to meditate.”
