Harvest Thanks

On Friday 14th October we held our annual Harvest assembly. A huge thank you to all those in our school community who sent in a contribution. We also say thank you to our Art Club who prepared the hall for our assembly as you can see on the next page. All the donations will be passed to Brent Food Bank to support those in our own local community who may need help during a difficult time.

Say Cheese…or… Don’t forget your hair brush...

It has been in each newsletter of the year so far and a separate letter has been sent out, but don’t forget that the school photographer is in school this week on Thursday 20th October. Don’t forget to check smart uniforms, combed or brushed hair and fabulous smiles!

Parents’ Evenings… It was great to see so many parents and pupils at our first “Parents’ Evenings” of the academic year. It was even better to see so many families leaving with smiles and saying they had received good information at the start of the year. We hope you found the meeting useful as well as enjoying our new displays, as well as new corridors and classroom in KS1. In the foyer was a suggestion box and we thank all those who left us a message… “It was an informative session and great to see the attention towards the academics.” “More maths workshops in Parent Times please!” “It was a very lovely and informative meeting about my child, thank you!” “More Parent Times about English and reading please.” “Can you repeat Parent Times at 3.45pm for those who work?” “Very well organised parents evening, thank you.” “Parent Time on grammar please!” “I would like to learn more about computing and maths.” “Can we have a homework club?” “The evening and the time was perfect.” “interested coffee mornings for parents with free courses please.” Watch out for a newsletter after the half term break that will update parents on the outcomes from Parent Forum and new ideas or changes to come! Harvest Thanks from Brent Food Bank for all your gifts!

NEW SCHOOL WEBSITE… please not the slight name change and extra DOT!

www.olivergoldsmith.brent.sch.uk

As you can see, we have a new website with a new address which you can see above and will be on all school correspondence. We wanted to make sure that our new website was designed with parents in mind to help you find the key information you need. At the very top you can find the whole menu as well click a link to our twitter feed and a language tool to translate the site into whichever language you might need!

You told us that maintaining good communication is vital and the new homepage has quick links in the white boxes to find newsletters and letters. You can also subscribe the new website calendar by clinking on the link. This means you can have school dates magically transported into your devices’ calendar saving you the trouble of inputting each and every one when you read the newsletter! If we have to change a date for any reason, the calendar subscription will update you! The home page also has a text scrolling bar which we will use for breaking news and key announcements.

The content on the sections and pages will grow over time as we expand how we use the resource! If you don’t find what you are looking for or have a good idea of other things to include, drop us an email and let us know!

Parking in Coniston Gardens & Kingsbury Road

By stopping on zig-zag or yellow lines you are RISKING THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN! Whilst on gate duty I regularly see near misses which is why I take this issue so seriously. Cars should NOT be stopping or parking on the zig-zag or yellow lines ; nor should they be blocking residents driveways to help us maintain positive relationships with our neighbours. You might be sitting in your car waiting but I do not feel that neighbours should not need to ask people to move so they can get in and out or their own homes. Also, do remember that the church car park on Kingsbury Road is private property and is not for parents to park in or stop in. Please set a good example to your children and others by following the rules of the road, the Highway Code! I hope I don’t have to start taking and publishing photos as some parents have suggested to me!
