The Bangor Township Education Association is pleased to announce its schol-
arship winners for the John Glenn High School graduating class of 2018. This
year’s recipients are Ms. Sierra Williams and Ms. Hannah Schnell. Each young
lady has received $500.00 to be used towards educational expenses. Ms. Wil-
liams will be attending Michigan Technological University in the fall and plans
to pursue a career in environmental engineering. Ms. Schnell plans on attend-
ing Central Michigan University while earning her degree in communication
disorders specializing in speech language pathology. Best of luck to both

CMMS 8th Grade Washington Trip
Fifth Grade Track and Field Day
Our first 5th grade Track and Field event was a great
success. All 3 elementary schools 5th graders coming
together for a day of Field and Track events at John

The fourth annual reading completion, Battle of the Bobcats, was a
sweep this year. Central's Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade teams’ hard
work paid off, by winning first place in all grade levels. All the stu-
dents that participated in the battle celebrated with an ice cream
party. Great job to everyone.

Think First Brain and Spinal Cord Injury

Neurosciences Institute of St. Mary’s. If
“Caught Being Safe” by wearing their
helmet, local police and fire departments
may “ticket” them with a coupon to McDonald’s!

Another successful FIELD DAY!!!
Beautiful weather, cool kids, supportive parents, and fun games
made for an awesome Field Day at the best school in town! Thanks
to all of the parent helpers for making this event possible!
Spring Concert
Students from Bangor West Elementary had their Spring Concerts on Tuesday, May 22, at the JGHS
auditorium. The music celebrated the season and looked forward with eager anticipation to the coming
summer break. Fourth and fifth graders played recorders in addition to singing, and many students in
the second and third grades had solo singing/speaking opportunities after beginning with some folk
dancing. The concerts were well attended and well received. Thank you to all for coming to support our
young Bobcats.
Reading Month
This past March was packed with fun for our Bangor West students. Thanks
to monies raised at our fall book fair, we kicked off the month with a visit by
author Johnathan Rand. Students gathered in the gym to hear how the au-
thor was inspired to start writing books. He also took the time to sign some
books and take pictures. Other activities that took place during the month
included a book swap, reading prize giveaways, family reading night, our
talent show, and battle of the bobcats.

Salmon Release Day
Congratulations to Mr. Miller and the Aquaponics club on all of
their hard work this school year . They successfully raised
116 of 200 salmon eggs into small fish and released them in
the Kawkawlin River. Some
of the salmon reaching six
inches in length– some of
the largest the DNR had ev-
er seen.
