SPECIAL CALLED BUSINESS MEETING
Wednesday, June 18, 6:30pm
For the Purpose of Electing Our Nominating Committee
Page 2
“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”
Dear Members and Friends of the Sweetwater Baptist Church:
Blessings!! It is hard to believe that summer has arrived. One of the highlights of the summer for
our church is Vacation Bible School. This year’s VBS will be during the dates of June 16 – 20. The theme
is “Agency D3.” It is a spy theme based on 1 Peter 3:15 that helps children “Discover, Decide, and De-
fend” who Jesus is. VBS is one of the greatest evangelistic opportunities of the year for our church. Please,
pray that God will use VBS to reach many boys and girls in our community with the gospel. Also, pray for
the many teachers and volunteers who will be working in this year’s school. And in addition, please pray for
Mrs. Brittany Walden as she serves as VBS director.
June is also the time of year at Sweetwater that we begin the deacon election process. “Deacon Recom-
mendation Forms” are available in the Information Center. They must be returned by Wednesday evening,
June 18th. Please, prayerfully consider who the Lord would have you to nominate to serve in this very im-
portant position.
Our next New Member’s Class will be on June 8th at 4:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. This class is for
all new members who have united with Sweetwater in the last six months or prospective members. I look
forward to this special time of fellowship with all of our new church family members.
Our new church year will begin in September. The Nominating Committee will soon begin the pro-
cess of securing individuals to serve in the various leadership positions of our church. Please, be much in
prayer where God would have you to serve for the 2014-2015 church year. Let me encourage you to be sen-
sitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit when you are approached about serving this year. Psalm 100:2 de-
clares, “Serve the Lord with gladness.”
One of the favorite summer activities for many people is fishing. People fish in a variety of places such as
creeks, ponds, lakes, rivers, and even the ocean. As Christians we are reminded that we are “fishermen of
men.” Jesus said the following to Peter and Andrew in Matthew 4:19, “. . . follow me, and I will make you
fishers of men.” (NKJV) As fishermen of men we are to cultivate a lifestyle of evangelism. Luke 24:48
states, “And ye are witnesses of these things.” We are to fish for the lost prayerfully, persistently, patient-
ly, and passionately. As you are busy this summer with outdoor activities, traveling on vacation, and enjoy-
ing sporting events, please don’t forget that you are a fisherman of men. Be sure to share Jesus Christ with
others through your verbal witness, attitude, and actions.
It is a privilege and a joy to serve you!!
With a Pastor’s Love,
Brother Paul

June Memory Verse
“But honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to
give a defense to anyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is
in you.” 1 Peter 3:15
This month’s memory verse comes from our Agency D3 Vacation Bible School
theme. Go over this verse with your child and bring them to Vacation Bible
School where they can learn how to defend the Word of God for them-
selves. VBS will be June 16th through June 20th from 8:45am-12:00pm dai-
ly. We would love to have your child there to worship and learn with us!
