The highlight has to be our Room Larders, housing a Nespresso coffee machine, selection of Teapigs teas and fresh milk so you can enjoy a cup of proper tea and coffee whenever you like. The Room Larders have been individually designed and each one is hand-made by our amazing joiner John Dennett, who by the way, spent most of last year carefully restoring all the sash windows at the hotel. The first batch have arrived and we hope to have them in every bedroom in time for Easter. You may have heard a whisper that we bought our local pub; well, we look forward to reopening it later in the year. Providing the option to eat just down the road from the hotel, rather than driving for miles if you’re looking for a change of scenery and more rustic food such as home-made steak and kidney pie made with meat from our resident herd of Beef Shorthorn cattle. Spring Awakenings at The Secret Garden Spa We are immensely proud of the fact our spa has been voted one of the Top 10 spas in Britain by The Daily Express and was included in The Times Top 50 Spa Holidays in the world! Thanks to Steph and her excellent team of therapists as well as the amazing products from Elemental Herbology you really can be taken to a place of total relaxation. As Spring approaches it’s time to reawaken ourselves after gloomy Winter months have taken their toll, the recent spell of extremely wet weather being no exception. Why not book our new treatment and see the difference a little TLC can make for yourself - it’s time to shine! There was something pretty nostalgic about flying a kite on Old Hunstanton beach on New Year’s Day. Even with the icy wind blowing, the sun was still warm and the sand glistened under foot. It made the perfect fun day out. There are plenty of stunning beaches on the North Norfolk coast so why not come and try your hand at kite flying? With its wide open skies it’s the ideal location. We are giving away exclusive Congham delta wing silver stunt kites to the first 50 people who book a two night stay or more with us and mention ‘Congham Kite Offer’. Go on, join in the nostalgia! Let’s go fly a kite Spring Awakenings, 105 minutes of pure bliss - £95 Indulge your body with a Macadamia & Papaya Salt Scrub, followed by a rejuvenating aromatic infusion & balm Full Body Massage which includes a warm herbal compress and hot stones to relieve tension and enhance the body’s circulation. A splendid National Trust property close to Congham is Oxburgh Hall. The 15th century moated manor houses needlework by Mary Queen of Scots.

Open every day in March except Thursdays and Fridays with a garden, gift shop and tea room, it is well worth a visit.

Make time to visit Oxburgh Hall Congratulations to Karen Malkan, our

restaurant manager, who is one of just three to be short listed for the Lynn News ‘Service with a Smile Award’ out of a total of 55 contenders from establishments all over the county.

Karen was put forward by her colleagues who all agree she has a friendly, approachable nature and even when she has been working long, busy days she always seems to have a smile on her face!

Karen will find out on 7th March whether she has won at a black tie gala dinner, hosted by the Mayor. Good luck Karen!

Service with a Smile

It Started in Tuscany - From Italy to the Chewton Glen HotelDid you know that Nicholas did his management training at Chewton Glen Hotel? Former manager of the famous 5 star hotel on the edge of the New Forest, Giuseppe (Joe) Simonini, who completed

38 years’ service before retiring in 2005, has recently published his autobiography. A fascinating insight into how someone from humble Italian origins ended up in a senior role at one of the finest hotels in the world.

Exclusive signed copies of Joe’s book, It Started In Tuscany, are available to purchase at reception for £20.00. Essential reading for anyone interested in the hospitality industry.

‘Lunch for Two’ CompetitionCongratulations to Kate Evans, winner of the Afternoon Tea for Two competition in the Autumn 2013 newsletter, for guessing that jam is traditionally served with scones.

Our competition prize this season is lunch for two people at Congham Hall. To win all you have to do is answer the following question correctly:

Which animals live in the parkland overlooking the restaurant?

Please email your answer to [email protected] and we will notify the winner and publish your name in the next edition of our newsletter.
