Linking the IOS Image for Cisco 36401) Run the GNS3 Simulator2) Go to Edit IOS images and hypervisors

Linking the IOS Image for Cisco 36403) Click the Platform, choose c3600, and Model, choose 3640:

4) Click the browse button on Image file and choose the Cisco IOS in your local drive \GNS3 Router Simulator\Cisco IOS\ c3640-jk9o3s-mz.124-16a.bin. Then a small window will appear, it will ask to uncompress, just click ‘yes’.

Linking the IOS Image for Cisco 36405) Then click the ‘Save’ button. An IOS image will appear in the ‘Images’ box

as below:

Linking the IOS Image for Cisco 7200 VXR1) Follow same procedure as before. Choose the Platform, c7200, choose

the Image file in your local hard drive, c7200-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T.bin, and click ‘Save’ :

Configuring Hosts1) Click on Edit Preferences

Configuring Hosts2) Go to Qemu Qemu Guest. Create two hosts. First host then click ‘Save’:

Qemu Guest Settings:

Identifier: Microcore host1Binary image: <path>/host1.imgMemory: 64 MBNIC: e1000Qemu options: -no-acpi Identifier: Microcore host2Binary image: <path>/host2.imgMemory: 64 MBNIC: e1000Qemu options: -no-acpi

Configuring Hosts3) You should see two hosts under the Qemu Guest Images:

Enabling the Cisco 36001) Click the Cisco 3600 and drag to the main screen. Then right click on the

router then choose ‘Configure’:

Enabling the Cisco 36002) A new window will appear then go to ‘Slots’ tab, then choose NMS-

16ESW. Click ‘Ok’:

Enabling the Cisco 72001) Click the Cisco 3600 and drag to the main screen. Then right click on the router

then choose ‘Configure’:

Enabling the Cisco 72002) A new window will appear then go to ‘Slots’ tab, then on slot 0 choose

C7200-IO-2FE and on slot 1 choose PA-2FE-TX. Click ‘Ok’:

Designing A Network1) Enable first the “manual mode when adding links”. Go to Edit

Preferences.

Designing A Network2) Under General go to ‘GUI Settings’ tab, then click ‘Always use manual

mode when adding links’ then click ‘Ok’:

Designing A Network3) Add one C3600 (R1) and one C7200 (R2) on to the main window. When

adding host, click ‘Qemu guest’ and drag it to the main window. Choose ‘Microcore host 1’ for first and ‘Microcore host 2’ for second.

Designing A Network4) To add links, click on ‘Add a link’ button

Designing A Network5) To add links, connect R1 to QEMU1. Click R1 then a list of available (in

RED) interfaces will show. Choose ‘f0/0’.

Designing A Network6) A line appears coming from R1, move the cross pointer to QEMU1, then

once you click it, a new set of interfaces will appear. Choose ‘e0’. Click on ‘show interface button to show the interface names:

Designing A Network7) Complete the procedure for the following. R1 connects to R2 and R2

connects to QEMU2:

Designing A Network8) Run the network, by pressing the ‘Play’ button. All the links are in Green, and in

Topology Summary window on the left, all equipments are in Green:

The QEMU1 and QEMU2 windows will appear. While for R1 and R2, double-click on it to configure manually.
