Seminar #1: “Solutions for Creating Internet of Things Devices”

1) Internet of Things (IoT) concept.
2) Overview of ESP8266 — low cost computer-on-module with WiFi for IoT
devices.
3) Creating programs for ESP8266 in Arduino IDE.
4) Connecting sensors and actuators to ESP8266.
5) Controlling ESP8266 from local WiFi network.
6) MQTT protocol for connecting IoT devices over the Internet.
7) Microsoft Azure cloud services for state-of-the-art IoT systems.
Upon completion this seminar, participants will learn:
1) Types and characteristics of ESP8266 modules.
2) Circuit diagram for updating ESP8266 firmware.
3) How to write programs and upload them to ESP8266 with Arduino IDE.
4) Connecting buttons, sensors, servos, LEDs and LCDs to ESP8266.
5) Controlling ESP8266 from the browser in local WiFi network. Creating web
server with multiple pages.
6) Connecting ESP8266 IoT devices and remote control server over the
Internet with MQTT protocol and open source Mosquitto MQTT broker.
