CONFERENCE PLANNING GUIDE

Page 2: CONFERENCE PLANNING GUIDE ANNUAL CASE WINTER … · ANNUAL CASE WINTER LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE Through education, we have the potential and power to open minds, tap the imagination,

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the 16th Annual CASE Winter Leadership Conference where success starts at the Scale of Us!

Over the next few days, feel the energy of our collective

mission as we deliver on the promise of public education. While we already make a positive difference for our students, let’s leave this week with a rejoined effort and unified purpose to make a positive difference for the entire state of education in Colorado.

Join your peers this week to take back the narrative of public education. Tell your stories. Engage in the stories of others and be inspired. Attend key note presentations by author Pedro Noguera and Brandon Busteed, Executive Director of Education and Workforce Development at Gallup, to learn how together, we can reshape the future of education and student success. Share your own insights with colleagues and cultivate relationships during peer sessions and receptions. It is through the shared leadership that takes place this week that we will have the chance to tell OUR story.

I am very proud to be a part of CASE, to be part of the “us” that works tirelessly to provide Colorado school administrators with the resources we need to serve our students. In 2016, let’s continue to work toward our goals of enhancing leadership, growing membership and improving communication. There is no better moment to start than now!

Sincerely,

Mitchell Forsberg 2015-16 CASE President

Greetings from Association LeadershipThe Colorado Association of School Executives

ADVOCACY The CASE advocacy and lobbying team works to advance the interests of Colorado school leaders and public education. Who We Are...Dear Educators, Leaders and Professionals,

On behalf of the entire CASE team, I want to warmly welcome you to the 2016 CASE Winter Leadership Conference! We are so excited to offer, for the 16th

year, an outstanding conference that blends professional learning with strong networking opportunities.

It’s an interesting, and certainly challenging, time to be an educator. More than ever before, educators are being tasked to produce unprecedented levels of student achievement in an ever-changing environment. So, I’d like to first take this moment to thank you – for all that you do for Colorado’s students, for engineering good things in public education, for doing more with less and for making a positive impact in a culture that is too often consumed by negative narratives.

We all know that there is always room for improvement. This year, as we gather in Westminster, let’s consider how together we can reshape the future of education and use our own professional development to redefine student success. Let’s embrace our collective talent, drive, vision and wisdom to make an impact.

I know this event will provide you with practical, inspirational and current information, but I also hope this time strengthens your passion and optimism. Your work matters.

Let us continue to deliver, this year, on the promise of public education!

Sincerely,

Bruce H. CaugheyCASE Executive Director

Brandon Busteed is the Executive Director of Education and Workforce Development at Gallup, a research-based, global performance-management company.

In this dynamic presentation, Busteed will talk about why student success depends on excellent teachers, supported by gifted and visionary leaders, who can engage students in the learning process and keep them hopeful about their future. Stronger alignment between education and work and life success requires building an educonomy - where there is seamless collaboration across all elements of our education system and all sectors of society. Extensive Gallup research on student and teacher engagement, workplace engagement and well-being offers crucial insights on how this can be done.

One of Colorado’s Best Investments

PERA retirement payments support local businesses, create Colorado jobs, and generate hundreds of millions of dollars in state and local tax revenue.

Since 1931, Colorado PERA has served our state’s public employees in ways that meet their retirement needs —investing for the future of our members.
