The Coal Preparation Society of America (CPSA) brings back the latest in coal processing technology expertise, equipment and networking events to the Lexington Convention Center. Now as a biennial event, the coal prep industry returns to the city equidistant between the Illinois Basin and the Appalachian coal fields.

A day of workshops walks you through coal handling and processing and the keynote session the next day provides valuable insight as to where the U.S. coal industry is headed. Technical presentations on new plant construction and modifications, coal cleaning and advanced coal byproducts give ideas on how to grow this industry into the future.

The exhibition has over 24,000 square feet filled with the latest equipment and services to help you be more productive and profitable. Our Members Night Out at the Woodford Reserve Distillery is always a sold out networking event featuring tours, cocktails, dinner, scholarship presentations and entertainment. Join us.

workshopsWorkshop 1 - Conveyors 101Presented by: Jerad Heitzler, Foundations Training Manager Martin Engineering

This workshop will give participants practical solutions and the correct actions to resolve problems that are typical with belt conveyors. The goal is to teach participants how and why to operate conveyors more cleanely safely and productively. Saving facilities money on lost material, premature equipment failure, unnecessary clean up cost, unnecessary environmen-tal scrutiny and preventing conveyor accidents will be key to our discussion Topics include:• How splices effect system performance• Conveyor belt storage• Prevention of belt damage• Root cause analysis of belt mistracking and proper tracking techniques

Workshop 2 - Coal Prep 101Presented by: Barbara Arnold, President, PrepTech, Inc.

This workshop is intended for equipment manufacturers, utility personnel, coal purchasers, new plant hires or other support staff who would like to develop a better understanding of the priciples of coal preparation. It covers a broad range of topics including coal properties important to utilization, coal sizing, cleaning and dewatering operations.

A review of equipment used in coal preparation will include descriptions of common types of coal preparation processes and the factors that influence their performance.

Two days of Technical Sessions Invited coal processing experts will: • Expand your knowledge of coal utilization, and• Present innovative new technology for coal cleaningMost importantly, experts will answer your questions.

Coal Age is the magazine for coal mining and processing professionals. Each edition offers arti-cles on how to mine and use coal more safely and efficiently, along with industry news, to its readers for free. For more than 100 years, Coal Age has been a valuable source of information that coal op-erators could trust. It is one of three trade journals published by Mining Media International (MMI), a full-service business-to-business media outlet serving the mining industry. MMI also publishes Engineering & Mining Journal (E&MJ) and Equipo Minero. While Coal Age is focused primarily on coal, E&MJ reaches professionals in all aspects of the mining sector, including precious metals, base metals and other mineable commodities. Equipo Minero is a quarterly Spanish language edition of E&MJ. MMI also produces two niche conferences for the mining sector: Haulage & Loading and Longwall USA. In addition to its print products, MMI also delivers breaking news to its customer digitally and it offers marketers a means to reach readers digitally as well.

FLSmidth introduces the new KREBS split-case slurryMAX pump features the latest centrifu-gal seal technology and a wide range of ma-terial options for all wear components. The slurryMAX includes the proven KREBS adjust-able wear ring to provide unsurpassed suc-tion side sealing and slurry efficiency when compared to other pumps in its class. The design is based on customer feedback and field experience to make the slurryMAX pump

maintenance friendly, safe and versatile. For example, the im-peller and suction liner assembly can be replaced without discon-necting the discharge piping.

The slurryMAX adds to the estab-lished KREBS gravelMAX, vMAX, and millMAX product lines to

provide customers with maximum service life and low power consumption for all slurry pumping applications. With the expansion of the KREBS slurryMAX product line, FLSmidth introduces the next generation of coal prepa-ration slurry pumps.

The Daniels Company is one of the most experienced companies engineering, designing and building coal preparation plants and material handling systems. Incorporated in 1956, The Daniels Company manufactures the world-famous Daniels Heavy Media Vessel and continues to do so with recent installations.

Approximately 180 engineering projects in coal preparation plants and material handling facilities have been completed by The Daniels Company in the USA and overseas during in our over 60 years of existence. Our projects have been had a 98% success rate of being on time and on budget. Each coal preparation plant has performed at the highest possible efficiency with the process technology available at the design stage. Maximum possible process efficiency has helped our customers maximize revenue and profits at lower production costs.

The Daniels Company takes projects from pre-feasibility stages through engineering, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup. The Daniels company also offers contract operation of any coal or material handling facility.

The Daniels Company offers clients evaluation of current operating facilities to determine the best manner to increase capacity and/or optimize process efficiency.

PrepTech, Inc. of Apollo, PA, has served the coal preparation community since 1997. PrepTech provides consulting services in the areas of preparation plant flowsheet de-velopment (including computer simulations with LIMN), plant audits and performance evaluations, and training. Our equipment line includes Multotec cyclones (heavy media and classifying) and spirals (both SX4 single stage and the two-stage SX7), the TH Minerals fil-ter press, CLIMAXx magnetic separators, and Sizetec high frequency dewatering screens.

Join our principle, Dr. Barbara Arnold, for the CoalProTec Coal Prep workshop on Monday, April 23, 2018. And check out information at our booth (109/110) about the new SX10 Low SG Cutpoint Spiral. Hot off the press!
