“What an Event! Totally superb!” “The Highlight Of Our Coversure Year”
Coversure Conference & Exhibition 2015
CONFERENCE BROCHURE SPONSORED BY
2 DAYS ONLY!
13th – 14th March
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2015 Coversure Conference weekend at which the highlight will undoubtedly be the premiere of our new multi-pound production Coversure, The Musical, which is the story of the unrequited love of a client for a franchisee.
We know that insurance is a favourite subject for musicals and we crave your indulgence in producing yet another insurance themed musical, a trend started as long ago as 1955 with Seven Brides for Seven Brokers, with the peak of the genre being arguably reached in 1979 by Stephen Sondheim in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Underwriter of Lime Street.
Even where the musical theme has nothing to do with insurance, it is astonishing how many writers and producers want to include a song with an insurance link. Can we hope to match those unforgettable songs such as There Ain’t Nothing Like A Claim and Don’t Cry For Me Please Aviva?
The premiere of this year’s production is at a new venue for Coversure, the home of MK Dons FC, who have kindly allowed us to stage our event at their stadium while they travel up the M6 to Walsall passing nearby four Coversure offices on that short journey.
Coversure has offices both at Milton Keynes and Walsall and also at Wimbledon, the ancestral home of the MK Dons. In fact more than half of the population of England is within ten miles of a Coversure office, which illustrates the potential reach of products distributed through the Coversure network while also reminding us of the potential for reaching a greater fraction of the country’s population by establishing new offices.
The annual conference is a metaphor for Coversure’s steady growth. It is a part of our corporate legend that the first annual conference was held in an Indian restaurant in Huntingdon, since when we have outgrown hotel venues in Peterborough,
Huntingdon, Leicester and Windsor. My colleagues remind me each year that it is very difficult to find a venue which is big enough to accommodate us whilst being intimate enough to reflect our family business culture.
We remain optimistic that Coversure’s steady growth and success will continue and that Coversure will retain the family business culture that is such a central tenet of everything that we do. I regularly celebrate the accomplishments of our franchise holders many of whom count their Coversure office as their family’s principal asset. Their businesses are supported by a brilliant range of products from our insurance company partners and by our terrific teams at Huntingdon, Ilkeston and Heywood. I am forever amazed and thankful for their collective expertise, hard work and application.
This weekend choreographers will be on hand to ensure that your movements between conference presentations are co-ordinated and stylish. Company representatives are expected to dance in the aisles as you approach their stands. You are recommended to warm up your singing voice before dinner and check the taps are securely attached to your shoes as you approach the dance floor afterwards. The Winner Takes It All will be played at the end of the casino.
The Coversure Conference is once again generously supported by the sponsorship of our business partners and our great thanks go to them. Franchise holders can thank them in person by visiting their stands at the exhibition, but there is a far better reason to visit them than just to proffer your thanks, which is to learn how you can benefit your business by promoting theirs.
Let the show begin!

The Cast Martin Taylor Lead Actor / Dancer
One of the original members of Coversure the Musical, Taylor recently took the lead role in the cast. He takes to his performances with absolute precision. His perfectly choreographed routines are like well coded pieces of computer software that have left many of his audiences dumbstruck.
He praises the original writer of Coversure the Musical, Mark Coverdale, whose creative genius rivals that of Alfred Hitchcock himself.
John Hooper Head Choreographer
After carving out a successful career as a dancer with grace and charm, Hooper founded the Hooper School of Dance for the Gifted. His unorthodox method of teaching which has been said to either ‘make you or break you’, has produced some of the world’s best dancers.
He now calls on his years of experience and choreographs Coversure the Musical. A face of the industry, he is always attending celebrity parties.
Bob Darling Actor / Dancer
Having spent a large part of his early career in the West End, Darling was discovered by the producers of Coversure the Musical in 2009.
After spending three years studying at the world renowned Hooper School of Dance, Darling quickly progressed through the ensemble to lead-dancer. He is now a leading figure in the cast, which many younger members look up to. He has been described, by some, as ‘Billy Elliott-like’ in the way he moves.
Kevin Sinclair Actor
Sinclair joined the cast of Coversure the Musical in 2009, after a successful acting career in London, having starred in many blockbusters. He is a big name in the industry and an accomplished actor with many accolades. He is a firm favourite with the fans.
He is also the star of the show at one of the musical’s successful spin off productions in London, City Underwriters.
Nigel Taylor Producer
Nigel Taylor is a world leading film maker, and producer of Coversure the Musical. His role means he travels internationally from Manchester to Huntingdon with his vast array of specialist equipment.
His creativity knows no bounds and when he is not working hard at Coversure the Musical, Taylor produces an amateur dramatics production in Lancashire.
Roger Nelson Acting Coach
Roger Nelson is a well-known acting coach from the CII Theatre School in London. He is known for promoting talent in the industry and has worked closely with some of the best actors in the country.
This year he is assisting the producers of Coversure the Musical and is keen to promote the CII ’s training programmes, qualifications and other resources to aid any budding actor or understudy that wants to further their career in show business.
Steve Ray Actor
We are truly honoured to have Steve Ray, a classically trained professional Shakespearian actor and star of the famous Howden production in London, making a special guest performance at Coversure the Musical this year – for one night only.
Ray is one of the most exciting actors on the scene at this time and his appearance has created quite a stir among critics and fans alike.
Steve Parker Actor
Originally from the south coast, Parker is a highly experienced and accomplished pantomime actor, who has enjoyed a long tenure at Coversure the Musical. His combination of elegance and dry wit has made him a star among many theatre goers.
Not one to shy away from a party, Parker is often found frequenting many of the world’s most prestigious award gala dinners.
Carl Ashton Stage Director
Ashton has been with Coversure the Musical for some years now and in his role as Stage Director, he oversees and orchestrates the musical from the back by unifying various aspects of the production. He has made the show a rip-roaring success over the years and has kept many of the cast in check and some out of trouble.
Ashton’s attention to detail has led to the show receiving great reviews, from some of the toughest critics in the country, including the FCA Regulator Times.
Nick Elliman Actor
One of the best known touring actors in the industry. Nick has been known to wow audiences across the country, but is not without his critics.
He is most famous for his epic monologues, which some say have insightful hidden messages and others have discredited as nonsensical ramblings. One thing that is for sure, is Elliman has helped inspire many budding actors to greatness, which he does through careful mentoring.
Adam Belcher Actor
Understudy to Nick Elliman, Belcher has recently joined the cast of Coversure the Musical and is enjoying his first season. Despite his lack of starring performances, Belcher is already making a name for himself and creating a dedicated fan base of followers. He has real attention to detail, which is evident in his almost flawless routines.
He has been earmarked by many critics as “one to watch for the future”.

For most of us, motor insurance is just a must-have. Yet for some drivers, it is so much more than that; it’s a way of taking care of what stands at the heart of their passion or livelihood.
We recognise that for these vehicle owners, standard insurance isn’t enough.
That’s why we work exclusively with brokers to get under the skin of their customers, and to know what their vehicles mean to them. Then we can build products to help meet their needs.
This is a completely different approach to motor cover. We call it Equity Insurance.

Casino (11:00pm – 1:00am)
After dinner has finished, the Coversure videos have premiered and the awards are all handed out, the night is still young. We have arranged for our very own private Coversure casino.
When you sit down for dinner, you’ll find a stash of fake money, instantly transforming you into a high roller.
The casino will be hosted in the Yellow Brick Road room from 11pm and will give you the chance to experience the spills and thrills that come with Roulette and Black Jack.
After the casino has closed, we’ll provide you with a late night buffet to help carry you through until the final curtain.
Nominating a charity
This year we are choosing a local charity to support with funds raised during a charity silent auction, to be hosted during the dinner. Offices can nominate one local charity, if you haven’t already, pop to the Coversure stand.
The charity you nominate could be local and/or one you already work with, or a cause that you think deserves some support.
The winning charity will be pulled from a hat during the afternoon conference session and the total raised in the silent action will be announced at the end of the night.
Wouldn’t it be great to leave the conference today with a big fat cheque to take to a charity that you nominated? Of course, Marketing will help you spread the word with a press release and photo.
Silent Auction
Whether you’re an experienced philanthropist or have never been to a charity auction before, there is something in the Coversure silent auction to suit everyone. From sports memorabilia to weekends away, lots start from just £49 and all money raised will go to a deserving cause.
Why not club together to form a syndicate and bid for an item together? Many of the lots are for multiple people to enjoy; for example, a private box at Ascot, luxury spa breaks and a professional chef in your home for 6 or 10 people. There will be a brochure on your table at the dinner to place your bids.
There will be assistants about at the dinner to help you, should you have any questions, to collect those all-important bids and take payment after the auction.
