Session DescriptionsKEYNOTE:

Give Kids the Example They Deserve and Give Them the Future! Andy JohnsrudKCF II.C/CDA III

Explore the vital importance of healthy practices and skills that give kids the very best adult example possible. Discover how solid care of self is the single biggest gift we can offer kids we work with and care so much about. Learn the difference between “you will” messages and “I will” messages and actions to give kids their best shot at success in the real world. Lead by example to set firm, loving limits. Help raise kids who learn to take really good care of themselves by observing us do the same.

SESSION 1:1) Avoiding Power Struggles | Love and Logic Early Childhood Parenting Made Fun!Andy JohnsrudKCF I/CDA VIII

Learn the art and science of control with children. Discover that we actually gain more control by sharing it in healthy ways with children. Explore how caring and nurturing relationships with children are the foundation of responsibility for kids.

2) Small Changes, Big Results: Inspiring Ourselves to (Re)Ignite Our Passion Kristen Wheeler HighlandKCF VI/CDA VI “Change is most lasting when it is built on small positive habits” is the advice offered by most self-help books. Examine key insights from outstanding self- help (or personal growth) books. Explore what tweaks you can make today to ignite or reignite your passion (in work and life)! Leave with several hands-on tools to use. “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”-Steve Jobs

SESSION 2:1) Floor Time: Tuning In To Each ChildKIM WOEHL KCF II.C/CDA III

Examine the Floor Time model developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan to ‘tune in to’ all children in child care programs. Explore the 5-step process that supports the emotional and social development of a child by helping adults be aware of and to build on their intuitive understanding of children’s emotional growth while building self-esteem at the same time.

2) Sensory Activities are Science!Kristen Wheeler HighlandKCF II.A/II.B/CDA II Teachers, do you ever find yourself struggling to plan science content that supports your study topics? During this training you will explore the fun of sensory experiences that support science content in the areas of scientific inquiry, physics, biology, and earth and space science. Children need many and varied opportunities to explore and experiment in the world that surrounds them. Physical knowledge is enhanced through hands-on experiences and interactions.
