Die McDonnell Douglas DC-10 – Der Dreistrahler wird 50

Als Nachfolger für die Douglas DC-8 entwickelt, hob am 29. August 1970 die erste von insgesamt 446 gebauten DC-10 zu ihrem Jungfernflug ab. Nach anfänglichen, leider auch fatalen technischen Problemen, waren spätere verbesserte Varianten von vielen Fluggesellschaften weltweit geschätzt. Die letzte Passagier-DC-10 wurde 2014 stillgelegt, aber Fracht- und Luftbetankungsvarianten verrichten noch heute zuverlässig ihren Dienst. Zum Jubiläum des Dreistrahlers wird Herpa im Lauf des Jahres verschiedene DC-10-Modelle in klassischen Bemalungen der 1970er und 1980er Jahre entwickeln.

The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 – The Tri-jet turns 50

Developed as a successor for the Douglas DC-8, the first of a total of 446 built DC-10s took off on its maiden flight on August 29, 1970. Following initial technical difficulties, also resulting in fatal accidents, later and improved variants were valued by airlines around the world. The last passenger DC-10 was retired in 2014, but freighter and aerial tanker versions reliably soldier on still today.To commemorate the anniversary of the tri-jet, Herpa will be offering different DC-10 models in classic liveries of the 1970s and 1980s throughout 2020.

Die Qantas Jubiläumsserie zum 100.

Neben des bereits vorgestellten Boeing Dreamliners in einer Sonderlackierung in 1:500 und 1:200 (Art.Nr. 534079 bzw. 570756) feiern wir das 100. Bestehen der australischen Airline mit einer kleinen Serie von Modellen aus verschiedenen Epochen ihrer Geschichte. Von der DC-4 über die 707 bis hin zum Jumbo Jet wird Herpa in 1:500 und 1:200 verschiedene limitierte Auflagen im Jahresverlauf ankündigen.

The Qantas Centenary Series

In addition to the specially decorated Boeing Dreamliner already announced in the 1/500 and 1/200 scales (item nos. 534079 and 570756, respectively), we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Australian airline with a small series of models from different eras of its history. From the DC-4 to the 707 all the way to the Jumbo Jet, Herpa will be releasing limited editions in both 1/500 and 1/200 throughout the year.

Jubiläen in Hülle und Fülle

KLM, Avianca, Qantas – viele große Namen der Passagierluftfahrt feiern derzeit ein Jubiläum. Aber auch einige Flugzeugtypen „runden“ 2020, wie die McDonnell Douglas DC-10 oder die Vickers Viscount, deren erste Serienversion, die -700er-Serie, 1950 erstmals abhob. Das britische Kurz- und Mittelstreckenflugzeug verwendete als erstes Flugzeugmuster weltweit statt Kolbenmotoren effizientere und leistungsfähigere Turboprop-Triebwerke.Passend zum britischen „Game-Changer“ seiner Zeit erscheint ein Modell der Viscount 700 in den Farben der BOAC in limitierter Auflage.

Anniversaries galore

KLM, Avianca, Qantas – several big players in commercial aviation are currently celebrating anniversaries. Not to forget the aircraft types that are also celebrating their jubilee in 2020: such as the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 or the Vickers Viscount 700, the first production version that took off for the first time in 1950. The British short and medium range airliner was the first to replace piston engines with the more efficient and more powerful turboprop power plants. Fittingly, a model of the British-developed game-changer of its time is released in the colors of BOAC in a one-time limited edition.

De Havilland Vampire

1946, nur wenige Monate nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs, wurden die ersten Exemplare des Düsenjägers an britische Geschwader ausgeliefert. Zu den zahlreichen Exportkunden gehörte auch die schwedische Luftwaffe, die ab 1946 bis in die späten 1950er Jahre auf die einstrahlige Vampire als Jagdflugzeug in großen Stückzahlen setzte.

The first production aircraft of this jet fighter reached British air force units in 1946, just a few months after the end of the Second World War. Among the many export customers was also the Swedish Air Force which relied on the single-engined Vampire as their main fighter from 1946 to the late 1950s.
