Strong Smart Proud
At Condobolin Public School we are STRONG, SMART & PROUD
Welcome back to the second half of the school year. We expect that this term will be quite busy as we prepare for the annual Variety Concert that will be held at the end of this term.
We also welcome Mr Bradley van Praag to our school. Mr van Praag will be working with all students as a relief teacher.
While we were not able to hold the full athletics carnival in the last week of Term 2 due to the wet conditions on our school grounds, each of the competitive field events were held, along with all races, to identify the thirty-three students eligible to represent our school at the Lachlan Zone Athletics Trials. Our congratulations go to all of the students for their patience, involvement and positive behaviour through the carnival day. We also thank the many parents and extended family members who came along to cheer our students.
Trophies and medallions will be presented to champions and runners-up in each age division at a special athletics assembly which will be held this Friday, 22 July at 9.20 am. Parents are invited to attend.
Students that are progressing to the Zone trials will be provided with a permission note when the school has received further information. These students have the opportunity to undertake training in various track and field events at school.
More Rain Coming
It is expected that a considerable amount of rain will fall over the next few days. It is important that your child has a warm school jumper or jacket with them at all times. Please ensure that all jumpers, jackets and hats are clearly labelled so that we can return found items to students.
Uniform Checks
Over the next two weeks, we will be rewarding students who regularly wear the correct school uniform with a Green Award. Children need to be wearing the correct coloured jumpers and socks to be considered for this award.
All students are expected to be in full school uniform at all times. If for any reason this is not possible, please send a note or contact the school. Boys should be wearing grey shorts, grey shirt, grey socks and black shoes. Girls should be wearing a gold shirt, navy skort or skirt, white socks and black shoes.
During winter, students may wear navy track pants. Alternatively, girls can wear navy slacks and boys can wear grey trousers.
Footwear is an important safety item. Good soles provide a sound grip on the floor preventing accidents such as slips, trips and falls from occurring. Footwear can also protect feet from damage caused by accidents such as falling objects. Canvas slip-on shoes do not provide appropriate protection, and generally come off when students are playing games. As such, we ask that parents provide appropriate school shoes or joggers in line with our uniform policy.
Attendance Awards
Attendance awards for Term 2 will be sent home later this week to keep parents and students informed of the attendance rate for last term. The information is based on the percentage of whole day attendance regardless of whether an appropriate explanation has been provided for absences.
Kindergarten Information Session
Parents of children starting Kindergarten at our school next year are invited to attend an information session in the school hall at 10.00 am on Wednesday, 27 July. We look forward to meeting with parents and students.
AECG Meeting
The next Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) meeting will be held on THURSDAY, 28 July at Condobolin Public School from 3.45 pm. We would love to see any interested parents, carers and community come along to this meeting.
P&C Meeting
The next P&C meeting will be held on MONDAY, 1 August in the school library from 7.00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
Portfolios
Please return all portfolios to school so that your child’s work can continue to be added for the remainder of the year.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Karen Trengove - Speech Pathologist
Karen is the founder of Learn2Communicate and has over
20 years of speech pathology experience. She is
passionate about helping educators support children to
develop speech, language and literacy skills. Karen has
presented widely at state and national conferences and
is also the author of three resource kits designed
specifically for Australian early childhood educators
available at www.learn2communicate.com.au
ABOUT THE SEMINARS
Learning to communicate is the most important skill we will
develop in our lifetimes. Children can become Effective
Communicators (EYLF Outcome 5) only if Speech Pathologists,
Parents and Educators work in partnership to nurture children’s
speech and language skills.
Seminar 1 PRESCHOOL 9:30-12:00 will cover the ‘Red Flags’ for
identifying speech, language and communication difficulties. Karen
will also share her ’10 Tips for Talking’ with participants
guaranteed to boost speech and language development in all young
children. Activities to help children with speech difficulties and
building reading readiness in preschool aged children will also be
addressed in this seminar.
Seminar 2 SCHOOL 1:00 - 5:00will provide parents and
educators with a step by step approach to implement a synthetic
phonics approach for reading and spelling in the early years. This
approach will enhance rather than replace any existing programmes
used in your school (K-2) and is based upon developing clear
speech and then building solid phonological awareness and
effective oral language skills for all students. Reading and spelling
can then be taught in a planned, purposeful and developmentally
appropriate sequence.
Limited Numbers first in best dressed.
RSVP by the 12th
of September.
