CONDITIONALS-WORKSHOP 2011 TRAVEL INFORMATION We look forward to your arrival in Duesseldorf, and would like to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We have booked rooms for speakers at Hotel Duesseldorf City and at Hotel Haus Mooren. If you are staying at Hotel Duesseldorf City, please make sure you get to the right hotel, since there are several hotels in Duesseldorf with a similar sounding name. The one, in which we reserved rooms, is located at Varnhagenstraße 37, Duesseldorf. If you are traveling by air, please make sure your final destination is Duesseldorf International Airport (and not Duesseldorf Weeze, which is one hour away from the city of Duesseldorf). Website: http://www.duesseldorf-international.de/dus_en/ If you are traveling by train, you need to get off at Duesseldorf central station (Hauptbahnhof). Website: http://www.bahn.de/i/view/GBR/en/ From Duesseldorf International Airport to the central train station (Duesseldorf Hauptbahnhof): By Taxi: Follow the signs to the airport’s taxi rank. The trip costs about !15-!20. If you want to go straight to the hotel, the trip will cost around !25-!30. We will certainly reimburse your taxi fares. By Train: Follow the signs to the airport’s tram station (S-Bahn) and take train S11 to the central station (Hauptbahnhof). Alternatively, follow the signs to the SkyTrain. This will take you to the airport’s own train station (Duesseldorf Flughafen Bahnhof). From the train station take S1 to the central station. The journey should take ca. 15 minutes. You will need a ticket for zone A (Preisstufe A) which costs !2.30. You can get a ticket from one of the machines at the stations. Unless you stamp the ticket, it will not be valid. Once you stamp it, it is valid for 90 minutes. You can use the same ticket to travel from the central station to the university/hotel via bus or tram. From the central train station to Hotel Haus Mooren and Hotel Duesseldorf City: Leave the central station from the main NW exit (to Konrad-Adenauer-Platz). The tram stop is in front of you and the taxi rank to your left. Taxi: The taxi costs about !10. We will certainly reimburse your taxi fares. Tram: If you do not already have a ticket for zone A (Preisstufe A) please buy one and remember to stamp it inside the tram so that it is valid. You can buy one from the machines located next to the tram stop or from within the trams themselves. For Hotel Haus Mooren, please take tram 707 in the direction of "Universität" and get off at "Uni-Kliniken". If you walk back about 100m, Hotel Haus Mooren will be to your left. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Please click here for a Google maps link. For Hotel Duesseldorf City, please take tram 707 in the direction of "Universität" and change at S-Bahnhof Bilk. Take the 706 at the same platform towards "Am Steinberg" and get off at the stop "Am Steinberg". Please walk back about 50 m and turn right on Himmelgeisterstraße. Continue in the same direction for about 150m, and turn left on Moorenstraße. After about 20m, turn left into Varnhagenstraße. The hotel is to your left on Varnhagenstraße about 30m away (a red brick building). The journey takes about 20

The black dotted line indicates the easiest route between the hotels and the workshop: From Hotel Haus Mooren, turn right and walk along Witzelstraße for about 600m until you reach Scotti’s restaurant. Just before Scotti’s, turn right into Christophstraße and walk until you reach Universitätsstraße. Now turn right and walk for about 200m. Just before the bridge, take the path on the left and follow it all the way up as it winds a bit to the right. At the top, continue walking away from the bridge for about 100m. Take the second entrance on the left. You are now in building 23.21. The conference room is 00.46A. From Hotel Duesseldorf City, please turn left and walk up to Moorenstraße. At Moorenstraße, turn left and walk until you reach Witzelstraße. Now turn right and continue for 500m until you reach Scotti's restaurant. Just before Scotti’s, turn right into Christophstraße and walk until you reach Universitätsstraße. Turn, then, right and walk for about 200m. Just before the bridge, take the path on the left and follow it all the way up as it winds a bit to the right. At the top, continue walking away from the bridge for about 100m.
